HI again, ok I know a key of this disease, is the morning stiffness. Now, hips and ankles and knees are stiff first few steps after rising after sitting even. BUT, my pain and stiffness, and any swelling are most severe as late afternoon and evening aproach. The more I use a joint or joints, the worse it gets. Does anyone else have this ? As far as flares go, I have not felt like I have really been out of one for about 10 weeks or so, some days worse than others, but none pain free, and always tire very very easily?? Uggh, Can you give me any info? This disease is soooo unpredictable. I don't have any info just good wishes and hope you feel better soon. Are you taking any anti inflammatories?Hello, I take 200 mg of Plaquenil twice a day, and Ibuprofin as needed, but I try ot take it only when I really need to, but my question is , are there any others with RA that don't have substantial morning pain, but later in the day??
Thanks!Just an idea, maybe your pain gets worse after a long day of over doing. I know some days I have pain all day but if I am on my feet alot I hurt more. Sorry not much help.

Jena,

When is your next rd appointment? I don't  want to sound negative or anything but your symptoms sound like mine when my MTX quit working and I needed to add something else to the mix. For me my ra always gets worse the long the day goes when I need my meds adjusted or I am in a flare. Have you talked to your rd? Good luck. jamie

RA always gets worse if I am active during the day.  Worth it if it is swimming

don't know why, but you sound allot like me. stiff in the morning until i take a really hot shower, and i'm just ok untill i get out of the car after driving 40 minutes to work.

there after the day goes down hill. by the time i get home, i am whiped out. my energy goes down fatigue goes up, and the level of pain in my joints rises as the day progresses, until night time, i really hurt. and have zero energy or desire to do anything.

somedays i am on my feet all day, and sometimes i can sit a while while at work. that helps.

however if i dont keep moving around the stiffness and pain piles up.

when i can stay home, and relax, the stiffness and pain overwheals me.

some doctors say that exersize helps. i have never been a person to exersize. i hate it. if they tell me i have to, then that will be a really hard thing for me to work into.

just my 2 cents, and i hope that helps ...

nice to meet you!

You need to go back to the RD. Your symptoms are not under control and there is much more that they can do. The prevailing theory is that the longer you have RA, and it becomes more stable, that you will have more pain later in the day. I don't believe that theory. I think it is indeed the struggle to get through the day is wearing you down.

I find by 2:00, I'm done. It's part of why I'm not working any more.

But you just need to see your doctor. Ten weeks of suffering is far too much.

Thank You all, I was thinking maybe I had the wrong diagnosis or somthing, because so much focus is on early in the day. I see my RD in January again. I am exercising, I do a recumbant stationary bike 3-4 times a week for 40-60 minutes. I have lost about 23 pounds in the last 8 months, would like toloose another 15 or so. I recently quit a 22 year career as a hair stylist, including shutting down my own Studio, I still do a few people, but can no longer do it like I was, I have 2 young boys, and a husband who is a huge help. I just feel like I shouldn't feel so badly every afternoon, and evening.Even a simple thing, like foldong laundry, or wrapping presents, baking cookies, can cause great distress on my joints. I hate the thought of the other medicines, they all sound, and I gues are, so toxic. I want to avoid it if at all possible, I keep thinking maybe I am just a whimp, and I should suck it up, and plug away. Anyway, thank you all for your input,
And Merry Christmas and Happy new year to all! I just recently started to be very stiff in the am, knees and ankles.  For almost 2 yrs I only had bad pain after doing something but now I guess sleeping is causing the stifness.  I think it is just the disease progression.

My flairs always, always come in the late afternoon.  Often I have a lousy evening and horrible night and a bad monrning and then it gets better after my meds kick in, then late aft. again it rears its ugly head.

Hope everyone's flairs GO AWAY until after the holidays (and never come back!).
