ultram and ssri’s cause seizures? | Arthritis Information

i was told by my pharmacist that my risk for having a seizure is high because i take zoloft and ultram. anyone else on these two meds? Do i need to worry? She said it could cause serotonin syndrome.I would definitely talk to your doc about that. I know I had to wait
until the pamelor was out of my system before I took ultracet
(which is like ultram w/tylenol). I switched from pamelor to
lexapro.Hi there, I am also on Zoloft and Ultram. The pharmacist hasnt said anything to me, but I havent fell over and seized. I also have to take 3 50mg pills to get a slight bit pain relief. Definitely unhealthy. Now that you have reminded me I might get that checked outWell here's a topic I know a lot about.  I have had seizures on Ultram but it was because I was taking way more than the recommended daily dose (no more than 400mg/day or 8-50mg tablets).  I was also on Elavil at the time, another antidepressant which lowers the body's threshold for seizures, making them more likely.

It is true that you can actually have a seizure taking just one pill (if you read the literature, this is listed there) but it is unlikely.  But I would caution anyone taking this drug to stay within the 400mg/day dose.

I had absolutely NO warning before the seizures...no aura, no feeling weird, nothing.  They just happened.

Not trying to scare anyone but just wanted to share with you that there is truth to what the pharmacist says but it is more likely with very large doses.

hey guys happy new year! I went to my primary care physician this week and she said definitely NO ULTRAM/TRAMADOL or any of that while taking zoloft, celexa, or citalopram or any antidepressants/anxiety medications.

She gave me vicodin instead which helps a hell of a lot better than ultram. Definitely get off of that. She said maybe one ultram a day is OK, but anything more than that is a no -go. Hope that helps
