odd periods | Arthritis Information

I'm on arava now and this month i missed my period except it came 3 weeks later, so a week before the next one should have arrived.

Is missing them normal with RA, or has anyone on Arava had these problems before you should be?

Are you perimenopausal?  Age group? Any hormone replacement therapy?  BC pills, steroids, MXT?  Could be several reasons for this.  I think I'd make an appt. with gyn to have hormone levels checked and for advice.

I haven't heard of missed periods as a side effect of Arava but it is common with autoimmune disorders. I have JRA and I've never had a "regular" cycle. All my hormonal tests come back normal.

This is a neat website about menstrual cycles. http://www.onewoman.com/redspot/index.html

(Yes, you heard me.

I started "The Change" when I was 32!

I was dx'ed with RA almost 13 years ago now. I've been on MTX for about 4 I guess.....maybe closer to 5 now. ANYWAY; I'm now 35 and definately in menopause. My hormone levels prove it without a doubt. I now take HRT.

At first my periods were really strange. One time it would last two weeks.....then two weeks later 3 days. Then nothing for two months. THen bleeding every other week.....eventually nothing at all. It took about a year of irregular periods before they totally stopped.

Their not 100% sure it it's due to the MTX or the RA itself; but I'm definately in menopause. SO, the moral of the story is.....you are not too young. See your OB. It's not impossible.
