Shoulder Replacement | Arthritis Information

Hello,

New to this site.  I am headed for a shoulder replacement at the end of this month.  I have traumatic arthritis from a college injury and this will be my 13th shoulder surgery between both shoulders.  Obviously I am throwing in the towel and I need some pain relief!

talltallone,

Welcome to this site - hope you will find lots of information and help here.

At the suggestion of another member, I have re-posted your message on to the Rheumatoid Arthritis part of the message board - it seems to get the most 'hits'.  I hope that some of our many members can assist.  Shoulder pain to me is somewhat like toothache - worse than pain in other areas

talltallone, You will need to research what to do to build up your RA meds. Some take a lot of prednisone? After the surgery (because of our immune system messing with healing and all) the doctors usually want you to be off the arthritis meds.  Be real ready to go back on ASAP.  The longer you are OFF the worse it is. Please see my post on Feb. 9th on the RA Arthritis forum.  I'm still not back to normal and I've been working at it for 3 weeks now. Prednisone has keep me pain free, methotrexate is not great for my liver and I can't pinpoint that the Remicade is doing anything (yesterday I had my second infusion) Good luck.
