Infection | Arthritis Information

Hi

My wife has had RA for a year and a half now and is currently not taking any meds.  We think that it may have been caused because by a viral infection.  If this was the case does any one know if having another major viral infection may alleviate the symptoms of RA.  I am asking this because my wife is in constant pain every day but we she has a chest infection or something like that the RA pain is considerably less.  Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I believe my RA started with infection also.  I am the opposite.  I have a ghastly infection right now and biggest flare ever so it is interesting that she feels better sick.  Is she on antibiotics?  Here is a site with info on the AP-anitbiotic protocol for RA, lupus etc.  It is based on the infection connection.

If she is on antibiotics, that can make the RA less painful. If that's the case, I would push for the AP therapy. Maybe she can get well and not continue to suffer.

Is she being seen by a Rheumatologist now? Have they checked her for Pericarditis or lung infection caused by the RA?

Antiobiotics always make my RA better.

My arthritis is better when I have a (viral, not just the sniffles) cold. I don't know why. My hypothesis is some serious infections keep my immune system too busy to bother with my joints. Or maybe I'm too busy to notice my arthritis pain?!

YMMV

Actually, now that I go and look, there have been documented cases of "viral remission" : http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=1871414

Well, you get the picture!
