Help ! My feet are feel as if they have been set on fire.  Only on the bottom of them. I started using Humira about 2 weeks ago and I am not sure the two are related. I have had feet problems for years , I had the joints in my feet replaced about 6 or 7 years ago. but I have never had this before. If anyone knows of anything that will help Please let me know.

Welcome Cheermom. We're glad to have you here.

I've been on Humira since December; along with MTX; but I don't have any experience with what you are describing. For some reason I do remember someone decribing a simular problem but seems like it was related to MS?

Obviously I'm not much help

Also; keep us informed as to your foot buring problem....it's odd situations like these that can be so educational for all of us.

Hey Cheermom....Welcome!  I have the same problems as you do.  My feet feel like they are on fire.  I am on Remicade.  I don't think it is related to any one particular treatment...I think it is just this funky disease that we have!  Just something else to look forward to!

Stay close to this forum....I have learned so much here.  I don't post a whole lot, but I read almost all of them.

Hope your feet get to feeling better soon!

Hi Cheermom,

My feet feel like they're on fire as well.  I'm not on Humira though.

I also get the hot burning feeling in my feet....specially in the evenings when I am resting them.  Are your feet feeling like this all the time or just certain times of the day?

thanks guys , I guess its just part of being the RA princess ! I guess I could be the Queen but that makes me feel old .

I agree with Patricia (allyne95). I too have peripheral neuropathy with burning in my feet that is worse at night. Sometimes my feet felt cold to me at the same time they were burning. I have had this for 3 years. I have taken Enbrel since 1988, so can't see any drug connection here. I take Neurontin 2,400 mg daily and it controls my symptoms quite well. I don't know what I'd do without it because I felt the burning sensation was worse than my joint pain.

I hate wearing socks because they make my feet feel super hot even more than they normally are. I wish I lived somewhere where I could wear sandals all the time. I will wear sandals March though October. The cold makes them feel better.

I learn something new here every week!

p.s. what is peripheral neuropathy?

Peripheral neuropathy is damage done to the nerves, small nerve endings, that are in the feet and hands. There is no cure. It can occur as a complication of autoimmune disorders. One treatment is Neurontin, thats what I take. Thank God for Neurontin, I was about ready to go nuts. Going to bed had become a nightmare, it is so much more noticible at bedtime. My toes and bottom of my feet will feel hot and turn bright red like I'd been scalded. The next night they will feel cold and I use a hotwater bottle in bed. It could drive you crazy trying to figure it out. Nowdays I try to go with the flow-prepared for either hot or cold.
