Well... today I decided to potty train son. I do not know why I chose while I was not feeling so well and have a hard time moving about and all.

I semi put his potty together and I let him help me put it together. I did not get the lid on it and then when hubby came home it literally took him 2 seconds to snap it into place and it worked on it for 10 minutes at least and could not get it to snap. While we were putting it together I was telling son what it was for and all.

I took his diaper off, which he had already peed in since I changed him, which was just before putting his potty together, and he sat on his potty and would not get off of it!

He sat there on the potty watching Thomas the Tank Engine and would not get off of it, and not even for a cookie. I was afraid he would pet on the livingroom carpet, that is why I wanted him to get off of it. I even tried to get him to let me put a pull up on him that had Lighthning McQueen on it, and still he said no. He loves Lightning McQueen and choo choo's.

Anyways... I put a pull up on him while he was sitting there and then told him to stand up so I could show him something. So, he stood up and I showed him how to pull the pull-up up and down and how to sit on the potty. He got it on the first try. Then he was pulling his pull-up down and sitting on the potty.

The boy sat there on his potty for 2 hours or more. I went into my room where the phone is and called my mom and left him on his potty and then I heard him walking around and he had went and got his wipes and wiped his butt. LOL!! He did not even pee or poo. He has just watched everyone else in the house go to the bathroom since he was 1, so thinks you have to wipe.

Anyways, before the day was over for him anyways, he peed in the potty twice! Then attempted to poo in the potty, but did not make it in time.

I just hope he will be easier to potty train than his sissy was, I had her potty trained and then a few months later she reverted back. It just frustrated me and then finally her granny got her trained again.

I just have visions of son using the potty and missing the potty and peeing on the bathroom walls!

Here's to hoping he is easy to potty train!

But sounds like your guy has already go the general concept. That's half the battle.

I HATE POTTY TRAINING!! I will pay anyone any amount of money to take
my son and bring him back trained...come on folks! You know you got
Christmas bills to pay off!!

Joonie,

I have 3 girls and 1 boy.  He is 3rd in age.  I trained him sitting down on the potty as that's all he saw his sisters and me do.  He is 7 1/2 now and still sits to pee at home.  It is great.  He never makes messes to clean up

My youngest just turned 3 yesterday.  She was fully potty trained about 2 months ago.  Boy, did we celebrate NO MORE DIAPERS!  After over 11 years with diapers in the house, that was a biggie!

Good luck!  Laura

I am teaching him to potty while sitting down. My mommy said that would be easier for him to start and then later on when he learns "I got to go", then I am going to let hubby teach him how to go standing up.

When son would watch me go potty or his sissy I would tell him we were pooing, and when he would go in the bathroom while hubby was going pee, we would tell him daddy was peeing. I did not want to confuse the boy by telling him I was peeing as he will have to learn to pee standing up.

He has not used his potty today, but I am not going to force him. If he wants to use it or sit on it, I will let him. I am not in that much of a hurry to potty train him. He was just showing signs of needing to start potty training like he would go hide while pooing in his diaper, he goes in the bathroom and flushes the toilet, and he tells us when he poos in his diaper.

Ah, I remember the days. Took years for my son to actually hit the toilet. I think he was aiming for the walls.

Geez Deanna, hubby still does hit the walls, or so it seems!  LOL
Reminds me about the old guy who went to the docs for an exam and the doc asked him if he had to get uo in the night to pee.  The old guy says, "I sure do doc, but I am very lucky because every time I open the bathroom door the light goes on."  His wife speaks up and says, "Oh my gawd, he is peeing in the refrigerator again!"
Loved that one now&then.Well, I sure have experience with this.  I trained my daughter and 2 sons, and then I went to work in a day care center, working with toddlers.  Do I know potty training!  The funny thing is that the kids I potty trained at the day care are now in high school.  LOL!  I see them around town, they have no idea who I am, and all I think is, I diapered your bottom and taught you to pee in the potty.  I could really embarrass you in front of your friends right now!  (I know, I'm awful).

My sons were still having trouble hitting the pot carefully when they were school age.  Then I got smart!  I started making them clean the bathroom anytime I found they had missed their mark.  Didn't take too many times before they changed their ways!

Now what do I do about my hubby?  He gets up in the middle of the night, or even in the morning when he is still bleary eyed, and doesn't even watch what he's doing.  He's yawning, scratching his head, looking out the window, doing everything but pay attention to the task at hand (pun intended).  I've spoken to him about it, he tries for a bit, but always forgets and returns to his old ways!  I can't wait to see what it's going to be like when he's 80!
My son (who is almost 14 now) was confused about the whole sitting down/standing up thing. He would see me sit and his dad stand so he came up with his on way... ...he used to stand on the toilet seat and pee. He used to whip it out anywhere he was outside and pee..so embarrassing. We live in the country and his dad would pee out the back door of the workshop so I guess my son thought you can pee anywhere as long as you were outside. LOL Can't wait til he brings home his first girl. The stories I will tell......LMAO!
