Question--Methylpredisolone | Arthritis Information

Hello Everyone...has anyone ever had any complications taking Methylpredisolone (Generic Medrol Dosepak 4M).  Went to the dr yesterday and had me start them towards the evening.  I had to take 6 but I broken it up into 2 dosages (3 at a time).  Well I only took 3 and got such an upset stomach that I just feel asleep.  This morning and actually through the night my legs starting hurting and this morning I could barely even walk.  Its just my legs, like my bones hurt so bad.  Well I didnt take anymore today.  Is it just me or did anyone have this happen??

Lisa

Lisa you're not alone, but you are lucky.

My b/f took some large doses of meth.pred. and had some VERY adverse reactions, one of which was muscle cramping and deep bone ache. (I could list about 10 others that he had, it was miserable) Unfortunately, that seems to be a standard side effect for some people when taking steroids. Some people just get crampy and achy from them. Ask your doctor about switching to something else, and let him know how it made you feel.

Some things to look out for while on meth.pred. or just plain pred.:

Blurred vision
Severe headaches
Hallucinations
Extreme mood swings (almost bi-polar)
A feeling that you are invincible
Lazy eye
Rapid swelling

I'm not trying to alarm you, these are INCREDIBLY RARE - it just seems like when you get them you kinda go "well where did that come from?" and it takes a while to think that the meds could be doing it. Just keep it in mind, it's not something that's well advertised about steroids.

Have him switch you to plain prednisone, people seem to have a much better response to that. My b/f takes it without a single issue. But man, put him on that meth.pred. and forget it!

Thank you for replying!  I just didnt take anymore and after 2 days my legs feel ok.  Gosh that scared me!!  I will never take that again!  I will just wait until Monday until I go see my Neurologist.

Thanks Again,

Lisa
