Ab lounge -- thoughts on this? | Arthritis Information

Does anyone have this? I'm looking to exercise and I'm hoping this with help with my lack of mobility issues (getting down and up and off the floor is terrible), plus it supports your neck and back. What's your opinion? My sister has one of these.  I tried it and do like it.  It is quite a workout though.  Start slow and build up.  It is awkward at first too until you figure out the best place for your hands and feet.  I wanted one but decided not to spend the money.  No doubt it would be another dust collector next to my stepper, treadmill, workout videos....

It does support the neck and back??? Cause that is one thing I would worry about. Sounds cool though...

I found this in a magazine...solo flex has a thing that you just lay on and it sends vibrations through your body and tones your muscles...sounds to good to be true..but it was featured in the WebMD mag..there is info about it on the soloflex website.

Anyone know anything about this one too?

Crunchy is that the thing that 9? You stand on it and it vibrates - somehow giving you a real workout even if you can't really move?

If it really worked I might actually splurge and buy myself one!

i don't know anything about it but at the rate that i am gaining weight. i need to exercise extra bad. plus the neck and back support sounds goodJust getting into the Ab Lounger would be a challenge for me, and then I know I would get folded up and not be able to get it unfolded.  Of course I might be able to video tape the whole process and win some money on America's Funniest Home Videos. . .  This could work! Personally I think workout equipment like the Ab lounger are junk. If you are trying to lose weight and are able enough, concentrate on cardio - biking, swimming, walking. I know this isn't possible for everyone.

Most people I know who buy stuff like Ab Lounger end up selling it in garage sales. There are plenty of exercises you can do that do not require the purchase of equipment. earch the web.

If there are certain things you most definitely can't do let us know. Maybe we could come up with something here on the forum for you.

My daughter and I bought one together.  Worked great for her.   I couldn't manage it, and it is now folded up in the cellar waiting for yard sale season.  Save your money, maybe start with a video from the Arthritis Foundation.  I was looking there, and they seem to have some that can be done at almost any ability level.

I tried it, can't use it.  Too hard to get into, out of, etc.

I'm a big fan of the stability ball.......great for core exercises, easy to get on and off and you can do a lot of exercises working as hard or as easy as you want.

I got one a year or so ago and just took it out of the box at xmas, lol, i'm so
motivated. I have used it.....3TIMES...It is nice though as you can stretch all
the way back and it makes your back feel really good. I'm gonna start using
it everyday just for the muscle stretching that you can do. It does really help
my stiffness.
