EMG/Nerve conduction test | Arthritis Information

I got a call this morning to go and have these tests done (apparently they had a cancellation) but wasn't able to go since I didn't have my van today.  So I'll get a call later on for the date/time for this.

In a previous post of mine Sara G told me about the nerve conduction test.  I'm wondering now about the EMG.  Has anyone had this done and if so, what was it like?

Yes 3 times........They poke and prod a bit, can be a little painful and you do jump but you will get through it I had it several years ago. It was irritating but not bad. It is a bit shocking because you're not expecting it, but after the first couple of little jolts, you'll be just fine. It's mostly just weird.Deanna...do u mean the emg? or the nerve conduction test?  I was under the impression that there are needles inserted into the nerves with the emg.I have not had one yet but have an appt for it in two weeks.  Not really looking forward to it and not sure I really WANT to know what they are going to do!!!

I had the EMG test done yesterday.  I am a big baby when it comes to needles and stuff.  They only thing that I would suggest is that you have the dr tell you step by step what he/she is going to do and when. That helped me alot.  Its an uncomfortable test but it doesnt take long.  Its not really painful, just uncomfortable.  Good luck with it!
