I officially got notified yesterday that in 40 days, I will no longer be in the Air Force.  I guess its a good thing, if I cannot physically perform the job, I don't want to be there.  Plus, they are about to switch to one year deployments for people doing my job

Best of luck to you in all that's ahead for you Jon. I'm sure this is a difficult time for you right now but "It will all be fine in the end".

Keep your chin up and try to stay positive.

Good luck to you!!  I am sure everything will work itself out!I'm sure you have grown great deal from your experiences in the military.

Welcome to the next chapter...

It, too, will be a character builder. With every ending comes a new beginning.  I hope you will find great joy in your return to California!  Sometimes I think God has to hit us in the head to get our attention and get us pointed in the direction we need to go, but once we get started in that direction we discover we really are happy with the change.

Best wishes to you!

The waiting and the paperwork are the hardest parts of a medical discharge, it seems, from the friends I've made while they were in the process. It seems especially hard if you are still in post housing. I think the biggest thing that would have helped them would have been just to stay interested in something (or alot of things) and stay active with it (them). Like researching real estate?.?.Just having some distractions help. It sounds as if you have some good plan to try and keep occupied. It also sounds as if you have an excellent place to go when you indeed are discharged. The Free leave is just downright cool. It would be awesome if you could get a job using your mind in the things you have knowledge in already.

I wish you all of my best, and I thank you, Just because.

Have you checked out the area around China Lake and Edwards? There is a lot of work there that is military support. They do high tech weapons development. It's not in the mountains. It's in the desert. But it is not far from mountains and a lot less crowded than other parts of CA.

thanks for all the nice words.  I have had a great experience, and cait wait for the next step.  Deanna, I looked around there, but I need to be more near the Orange County area because my wife is still in college.  I don't plan on living in the mountains, just plan on getting my skinny butt to the top of one :)

Jon, in that case with your background, check out job shops in the area. You will probably find listings on www.monster.com and www.careerbuilder.com.

You might want to check out high tech companies as they usually respect and actively seek those from the military often because of their security backgrounds.

I want to add my thanks too. I wish you the best in searching out your new life.

Good luck to you. With your incredible attitude, you'll have a job soon. I hope it's something challenging for you!

JON,

I just want to say THANK YOU for serving and protecting us and our country.  You are a very special person to have done that for us.  I want you to know that you are so very appreciated by me.

I wish you only success, happiness and controlled good health!  All the very best to you and your wife.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
