Have you read the new health care plan proposed by Bush? If you haven't, you should.
For those of you with no insurance, it might provide some benefit. For the rest of us, it will be absolutely destructive. Who does the plan hit? People with chronic illnesses who need to spend a lot of money for health care, that's who. You will be taxed to the hilt because you are sick.
Please - read up on it - write your representatives and senators. I guess the chronically ill are the most disposable people - and you are about to be disposed of yet again.
This from CNN.com: "
Who is most likely to see a tax increase? Health insurance costs vary by region, so those who live in high-cost states like New York and California will be more likely to see their plan costs exceed the deduction cap, and that difference would be subject to income and payroll tax.
The chronically ill -- who are more likely to pay high premiums -- may also be more susceptible."
Man, I knew I shouldn't have missed that speech last night. Bush doesn't get any domestic issues at all. He was born rich and has never had to face what any of us do.
I just can't believe it can get worse.
It can definitely get worse. Taxing the sick to provide health care is just nuts. I don't think my insurance is considered gold-plated, since I have to pay out-of-pocket for Celebrex & am not allowed to have Humira or Enbrel because they're too expensive - but - here's the thing. Maybe you think it's okay if they tax you for your insurance (and you're wrong about the value of your insurance, Watchingwolf - five years ago, a fairly basic BCBS insurance plan with prescriptions was ,600 for a family of 3. I know, because we were paying it. It's probably over ,000 now. How would you like like to get smacked with ,000 in additional income?)Is it really the big bad governments fault? Of course it is. Everything is the big bad governments fault.
When Mrs. Smith takes daughter Suzie to emergency for a cough, sore throat and a 100 degree temperature, the insurance pays it. Emergency sends her there and there and there and lo and behold, 4,375.00 dollars just to be sure that little Suzie actually has only a cold that more than likely the body would have fixed within a couple of days. None-the-less, anti-biotics, 175.00 dollars and 37 cents.
Health is an extremely large business. Like any business, the bottom line needs to be as large as can be stretched. The large hospitals have gobbled up the smaller hospitals. The larger hospitals are fighting each other for more of the pie, and it is a very big pie.
It's not the big bad government. It's a people with no concience and the one with the most toys wins.
I don't give a rat's @$$. It's Bush-Free. I'd live at the North Pole to get away from him if I had to.
I dunno. Maybe we can hold out till 08, and some knight in shining armor will come along and make it all better...maybe?
I say we move to Baghdad. It is supposed to be really warm there, and without all those nasty buildings in the way, I hear you can see for miles! And the word on the street is there is a lot of American money being sent there for a special downtown redevelopment plan.Problem is that you have to be a millionaire to run for President with the support of all these forces that are trampling us down. I like this that I was sent regarding the statement by the Australian Prime Minister. I wish we had someone with enough courage to do this.

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament . "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Televis ion. "I'd be saying to clerics who are teach ing that there are two laws governing people in Australia: one the Australian law and another Islamic law that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said. Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Musl ims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want, to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said . Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mo sques. Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians." "However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia .." "However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multi-cultural community has served on ly to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our o wn lifestyle." "This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom" "We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wi sh to become part of our society .. Learn the language!" "Most Australians believe in God . This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture." "We will accept your belief s, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peac eful enjoyment with us." "If the Southern Cross of fends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not for ce it on others. "This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'." "If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted."
Arriscolwell..........say Hi to Alec Baldwin when you are up there.....Crap thats right he never left. Relax people these are not even official proposals yet. Much debate will happen You don't want to live in Canada for their health care. I am an American and was there on a ski trip. I dislocated my shoulder and had to be taken to "la clinque" in Quebec. It took about 6 hours for me to get into the doctor. I had to pay for the treatment there and fought with BC/BS after I got back. I was not impressed with sitting in a waiting room with a dislocated shoulder for 6 hours. The pain was incredible. I also know Canadians are coming to the US to get heart treatment and surgery because they cannot get it in their system. It was on 60 Minutes or one of those shows awhile back. Bad as things may be here--if you have insurance here--thank your lucky stars. I also don't think "Bush will get his tax on insurance--think about the Congress and Senators who do not want to pay more taxes--that would affect them. I don't think it will ever happen. (I hope!) By the way I did not vote for him--either time!!
