Hey, I have this weird feeling in my right hip. It sort of throbs but feels almost like it's going to dislocate. Driving is especially hard dthe last two days. Any advice? Is this RA related or could I just have sprained it somehow?

RA relllaattteeeeddd.....

Can we say it? Can we say "I told you that you had RA, not just OA!!"

Go to the doctor. And don't leave until he DOES something for you.

I've had hip pain kinda similar to what you've described. It's in my left hip, the pain is located around my groin and a spot on my lower butt cheek, like I was shot with an arrow.

The groin pain makes it hard to walk or even sit for any length of time, everytime I try to move it feels like my leg is being pulled off.

Mine is from the RA. Your's might be something else, esp if you've never had RA in that joint before. Do you remember doing soemthing that might of strained or pulled that hip?

I treat mine with the usual - rest and meds.

Hope you feel better!

lmao

Why is my dr. crazy? Did I miss something? Honey39109.5320949074I never said I had OA arriscolwell. Do you have me confused w/someone else?

LOL

(I should know, I'm an expert.

I brain fogged BBIIIGGG time. I read the poster's name as "HillHoney"

lmao Maybe I need to work on getting more sleep...

Honey,  Is it pain where your hip bones stick out in front?  My latest specialist says that is typical for fibromyalgia not RA.  Who knows but I have had that hip pain constantly since onset.  She said your hip is like on the inside of your upper leg and that is RA pain.  Who knows ??????????  They all say something different  but this rd said that is a typical place for fibro pain - the sticky outy hip bones.  (Hope that is not too technically speaking I'm sorry I'm sorry!! I'm blaming it on the brain fog. And the fact that I was writing it at work, while doing a 2-hour rooming list project. Sheesh... Oh Geez! I'm so lost in this!   Someone please explain what is going on!!! The hip pain is not in the front. It's sort of like, if I were laying on my side, the hip that's facing up, feels loose like it can pop out. It's on the side.

Arriscolwell, what happend? I'm soooo confused by this thread.

Never mind.

I know stress is bringing on my aches and pains. My dad is having a seriouos health crisis and I'm feuding w/my sisters bigtime. I'll survive though.

Can someone tell me what LMAO means??????Hehehehe I learned from my 22 year old daughter on msn. LMAO is laughing my ass off Jenee, thakns for the translation!

Honey, I have had the same thing that you described. My left hip felt like it dislocated. I woke up one Sat. about a month ago and felt great. I showered and was getting dressed. I put my leg in my pants and my hip popped out and hurt like b***ch. I hopped over to my bed and fell back on it and my hip popped back. Every since then it has been bothering me. I called my rheumy and they said quote: "There's nothing we can do for you right now. You will have to wait until your next appointment. " (I have a posting about it on this site). MY next appt is Feb. 8th. In the meantime.....I have been suffering with that and a cyst on my tailbone. I had to go off my Humira, and Relafan because I have to have surgery on my cyst THursday.

Did I mention I am looking for a new rheumy?

Anyway, I know it's RA related but I want to know if I have any damage. The thing I found that worked for me was to lay on my "good side" and put a pillow in between my legs and a heating pad on top my sore hip.

It evidentually will get better, so think positive.

Take care

CinDee

Had something similar happen to me. I was walking down the hall at work after being out in the rain and nearly fell because it felt like my hip just collapsed on me. They did a hip MRI on the chance that it might be bone necrosis which fortunately it wasn't. I do have fluid on my hip, not bad. But it is why I changed my cane to my left hand and went back to PT.

Do what CinDee said because that helps a lot. Also, go down to your local Freakmart and get a cane. They can size it for you. Hold it in the hand opposite to your hurt side. It will give you a lot of relief and make you more stable.

I have heard also it is common to have bursitis with RA.  A friend of mine has had RA for 15 years and she recently had to have a cortisone injection to relieve the bursitis pain in her hip. A local gp could diagnose it.

Honey~Katie had you confused with another member "HillHoney".

You didn't miss anything Sweetie.....Katie did. Don't sweat it!

Hope that hips feeling better soon.....OR not. Hopefully the doctor will see you when it's acting up so he can get to the bottom of this. Sounds RA related to me. I have simular problems off and on; and it's not fun.

Take Care.

Sorry Honey that things got confused.  I have a lot of hip issues that I have discussed here in the past which are OA, not RA, but I have suspiscions that I may have something else systemic going on.  At this point I am still considered just an OA patient.  That is what Katie was commenting on, thinking you were me!  She got her Honey's mixed up, LOL.

I have recently purchased a leg pillow which I use at night and it does help.  I got it for on ebay, and it is worth every penny.  I have experienced that feeling like my hip is going to pop out of joint, and I have had it give way on me when I was coming down the stairs too.  I slather on the emu oil, use heat, Osteo Bi-Flex, and a NSAID and try to keep as active as I can.  When I'm walking and my hips lock up on me I just have to stop, wait a few minutes and then continue on.  I use a shopping cart to act as a walker whenever I go shopping.  I always park near one in the lot, so I can use it to help me get from the car to the store!  The pain that goes with mine is both on the outside of the hip, and in the groin, and when it's bad there is no position that is good - sitting, standing or laying, so I do so hope yours is gone by the next time you see your doctor.  I don't want you walking like me and my avatar!

My last rd blamed my hip pain on bursitis Just one thing before i go, in Australia a normal doctor is referred to as a local doctor or a gp(general practitioner). Is rd a regular doctor?

Jennee, I don't think you said anything wrong. I was going to suggest bursitis also because that's what the rheumatologist told me mine was.

An "rd" is what some call their rheumatologist.

Jennee, please do not stop posting. There is nothing wrong in what you posted. We cannot always agree here. We are all different people. Sometimes, I want people to disagree with me to improve my own thinking, to broaden it. I learn more when that happens even if at the end of it I still disagree.

Your opinion and suggestions are welcome. We are all here to help. That's really the main thing is caring for each other. Please continue to post.

And hip problems can vary significantly, for instance I have fluid, Roxy has erosions, you can have quite a bit of damage that might require a hip replacement. What should be of a major concern for all of us is that the hip is a major joint. And for women, a fractured hip can be extremely determental to our health with the recovery record not being very good. If one has hip pain it is essential to know the reason for it. For me, a cane and exercises are the solution. That's pretty simple. If I ignored it, I know I could fall and then much worse could happen.

And, bursitis is really painful. But again, it can be treated so don't hesitate to get it investigated and don't let anyone including your doctor down play it. It is your body after all.

I'm not even sure where there WAS a disagreement, Jennee.  You were making a suggestion of a possibility that should be explored.  My explanation of my situation was just to share the situation I am in, and some of the ways I am coping, and was in no way meant to dispute the  possibility that bursitis is the cause.  If I gave you that impression, please forgive me.  I often suffer from foot in mouth disease, so if I said something that made you uncomfortable, I hope you will chalk it up to an old biddy's ramblings, LOL!

Don't you dare refrain from posting - we'll come get you and squeeze the comments out of you if we have to!  You make me smile No, Jennee, you do just fine. Gently it is. Hillhoney, you hear me?
