I did my second ever Humira shot on Thursday night.  Everything went well, a little stinging but I put an ice pack on the injections site before and after the injection.  Didn't really give it another thought until I got home from work and had this incrediable itching on the left side of my tummy.  I went into the bathroom, dropped my pants and I saw a lump  about the size of a large welt...mosquito bite) I know it wasn't a mosquito bite.  There was a red patch there as well.  Is  this typical?  What do you do when this happens? RMaria38521.7650810185Hey RMaria,

Unfortunately I too get those lovely welts...mine don't disappear for about 3 to 4 weeks so it is easy to tell where I have given my shots so I don't use the same place. Rheumy said that it is very common and not to worry. hope this helps

hey, I take Humira every other week.  For a long time, I didnt notice any site reaction.  Now, I am starting to get a small red spot that itches for a day or so.  I think it is a pretty common thing.  If it gets out of hand, tell your doc.  Hope the Humira works for you!

I've taken Humira for about 6 months and have never hadd any kind of site reaction except for a tiny burse once. My doctor and nurse both told me to expect it though....so I don't think it's a big deal.

Keep an eye on it though.

BTW: What's your experience with Humira so far? It might be neat for us all to compair notes.

I've been taking weekly shots of Humira for about 9 months now--I get a small site reaction about eight hours after I give the shot, and it clears up about 12 hours later.  I give my shots in the front of the thigh--I bet the stomach area might be more sensitive.

Jeanne; How long were you on bi-weekly injections before you switched to weekly?

I've been on weekly for about a month now after doing bi-weekly for about 6 months.

How is it working for you? Are you still having good results?

what i have noticed is that no matter how hard it is just try to relax and do it slowly.  it works for me. my dr gave me the first injection and now i'll be doing my 3rd one and i've really noticed that i can handle the shots alot better if i just take my time with it and i try so hard to stay calm and relaxed that way my muscles dont tighten up and my skin is subtle not tense.

I've been sick with pneumonia so I haven't been online much.  The Humira is ok, I guess.  I'm thinking I am not a candidate for Humira alone.  I find the results about the same as Enbrel but the swelling in my right hand is worse. My hips are sreaming they are so sore.  I was wondering how many others here are on combination meds instead of only 1 med?
