Tramadol/Generic Ultram | Arthritis Information

Hello Everyone...Did anyone ever take Tramadol/Gen. Ultram for pain?  Apparently my dr wants to take me off the Vicodin and put me on this.  I read some of the side effects which arent so nice.  I am so confused if I could still take my Napoxen and Xanac with this pill.  Called his office and they are gone for the day.  Any advice??? I think I am going to call my Pharmacy and see what they have to say about this.

Thanks A Bunch,

Lisa

I take it, it's not so bad. I take a very low dose though, and not every day. The worst thing I've found so far is constipation. Ick!!! Good luck!

Thank Katie for the reply.   They have me taking taking 50mg every 4 hrs.  I was taking Vicodin, which did help me, but I feel the dr wanted to get me off it because he thinks I am relying on it.  What a feeling to have.  It got me through the day and I only took 3 per day and 4 on a bad day.  So go figure..I really dont know how this compares to Vicodin at all.

Have A Good Day!

Right now I have Ultracet (37.5/325), Ultram ER (100mg) and Vicodin ES for pain, and I kind of rotate through them depending on how I'm feeling.  Sometimes the Ultracet helps me more than the Vicodin, but I'm never sure why.

I don't know about Naproxen and Xanax specifically, but I take mine with Relafen and Skelaxin, which I think would be comparable, but best to check with the pharmacy.

As for side effects, I don't think I'm suffering any particular side effects to the Ultram, but it's hard to tell with so many meds.  Was there something in particular were you concerned about?

It really annoys me that doctors are concerned that we may be "relying" on the Vicodin..of course we are, we're in pain!  It is well known that pain in undertreated in this country and that barely any chronic pain sufferers actually become addicted to the narcotics.

Lisa, good luck with the Ultram.  If it works, maybe they could put you on the Ultram ER, which is 100 mg for 8 hours, so you don't have to take so many pills.

I've taken TONS of Naproxen in my day - can't take it anymore as it makes me dizzy and upsets my stomach. Xanax is something you want to be careful with. In some people, instead of helping, it can make you feel a little....out of it. If you get panicky for no reason, or very suddenly depressed, call your doctor right away. That's something I've learned from experience. Out of all the people I've know who've taken it, it seems to be about a 50/50 shot that it works properly.

As far as the Ultram, I take 50mg-100mg as needed every 6 hours. Some days I don't take any, some days I take a couple, and on my worst days I'm doing the 100mg every six hours just to function. It all depends.
I am new to this,my dr. put me on tremdol first,it did not help the pain, now 4 days of mobid and no reliefUltram ER takes the edge off the arthritis/muscle pain but most of the time it gives me a headache with just one pill.  I don't use it that often.  [QUOTE=Lisa18255]

I used tramadol some years ago. Very helpfull medicine!
i use tramadol  but makes me only sleep a cpuple hrs at a time and realy foggy headed but it does help the pain. do to the sleep thing i only take it when pain is realy bad and told to only take 1 at morn and at night as needed.I take 200 to 300 mg of Tramadol a day. Without it, I could not function at home, let alone work. I try not to take it past four in the evening, because if I do, it keeps me awake. My doctor also prescribed Soma. I can take both together, but I usually only take Soma at night. Hope this helps!
