Anyone tried Weight Watchers? | Arthritis Information

I am about 25kgs over weight, and since being so inactive this past year I have piled on the weight and its not good if I am now looking for a new job and it slows me down and puts strain on my body too.

I am seriously thinking of joining weight watchers, has anyone else tried them or the equivalent?

If you can exercise just a little bit, the plan should work for you. This is especially true if you have not done a lot of starvation dieting it usually 1200 cals a day even if you count points and not cals.

There are lots of foods on weight watchers - you can live long term on it. Not a diet but rather a new life style.

Good luck! Even 10 lbs will help your knees and feet.

I have done weight watchers.  I just bought the books on ebay and did it myself.  I knew I would never go to a meeting.  The most important thing was writing down every thing I ate and counted the points.  It was easy and I did lose weight.

Of course, then I went into a flare and didn't care about life and it's back on.  I have just been thinking I need to get back on it.

Hey Laura, lets do it then I actually bought the at home kit for my 22 year old daughter for xmas. She desperately wanted to lose weight and it upset me to see her so distressed about her weight. she started on it just after xmas and she has lost 10kgs already. (i think that is around 22pounds for you Americans) She says she can't see any reason to not keep doing it. Positive results. For someone with RA you would have to persist with very gentle exercise and determination. The food side of it she said was soooo easy.

Yes, Wendy, you should go to the meeting tomorrow.  If you don't just jump in, you will keep making excuses an putting it off.

I will make the effort to start watching what I eat and writing it down.  I know it will help my knees and ankles.

Ok Laura, youre on, lets do it!  WW here I come
