Sara~There's a big difference between one of our beloved friends sharing something that is helpful to them...and someone we've never heard from posting one time with special links to their products.
You can always tell when someone pops in and makes one post bragging about something....and then adds a link. That's a dead give away.
OK. Since you called me beloved
It's called DragonNaturallySpeaking. And 6xmum, it's not expensive if you get it at eBay. Do a search for Dragon Naturally Speaking. You'll see a huge price range, but I saw one last night for .95. It was for version 7.0. You don't need the newer 8.0 as a beginner. I don't think you would notice the difference, and the new version is way too expensive. Plus, if you get it on eBay, it's a brand new disk--not pirated. Just check the description and make sure they say so. The thing is, for that price, you won't get the books and instructions to go with it. But as I remember, there's a decent tutorial on the disk itself, and I'd be willing to bet you could find instructions online. Yes, they are helpful, but not absolutely necessary. (Actually, I have an instruction book from an older version, and maybe I could Xerox it and mail it to whoever needs it.) You'll also need to buy a cheap headset at someplace like RadioShack. That'll cost you maybe . The software--my computer geek son tells me--is what is known as artificial intelligence. You actually teach it. You read paragraphs into it in the beginning, and it gets to understand your voice and your accent. The more you use it the smarter it gets, and the more accurate it gets. It's pretty neat. You need to be kind of patient though, sort of like teaching a puppy.
