but it helps pain that's for sure and in the UK they even made a pain pill from it why not here? and I think everyone should ask there doc hey theres a mj pain pill in the UK? why can't I have it

Which ones are legal pot states? I can just see my Dr now if I mentioned it!All I can say is that I feel better when I smoke it!! I went through a phase in my late teens and 20's where I smoked it just for fun, than I sort of grow out of it. Just this past year have I started smoking it a bit again. It really helps with the nausea that comes with the mtx. I also find taking a couple of tokes Saturday morning before I attempt to clean house helps to keep some of the aches and pains away. Than, if I have a few more tokes after cleaning, it helps me to nap! MTX in one hand Twinkies in the other .LOL

I am in the Uk and I have to say what you said about a pain pill from mj is news to me! All forms of cannabis are illegal here, although the drug has recently been "downgraded" (judged less harmful than others) and Police have more flexibility to only give verbal warnings for posession of a small amount. However it isn't licensed for any medical uses - even though there are campaigns running to license it for some diseases. I know that there has been some research into drugs containing cannabis extracts (possibly what you're referring to?) but none licensed yet - sorry to disappoint! The position here is the same as ever - it is illegal to buy, sell, cultivate or posess cannabis in any form - ho hum, guess we'll have to wait a little longer to test those theories about whether it works!

Mark, the drug we use here in the US is called Marinol. We give it to
patients for nausea and to be honest, I have never seen it work for
anything. To me it is a useless drug but some people may benefit from it.
I have never heard a patient say it worked for them. I think it is much
more effective in its natural form.

Marinol is useless for most. I believe you need the full range of cannabanoids that are found in the plant and not the single cannabanoid they use in marinol. Its somewhat legal in California and I've heard that up to 15 % of the legal users use it for RA. But like everything else in RA, no single drug works for everyone.I used MJ recreationally before I got RA, so perhaps it's helpfullness was not shown so dramatically to me, but I believe it helps, especially with sleeping, headaches and nausea. Alaska is a medical marijuana state, I think there's a "how much you can have" component to it. I have glaucoma and could probably get it for that, but with my luck all I'd get is the munchies and gain 100lbs. My oldest DD, 20, wants me to get stoned with her and her sister. She thinks it'd be hilarious, but they laugh and roll their eyes at me now.

SUMMARY: The Edward O. Hawkins and Thomas C. Slater Medical Marijuana Act took effect immediately upon passage on January 3, 2006. The law removes state-level criminal penalties on the use, possession and cultivation of marijuana by patients who possess "written certification" from their physician stating, "In the practitioner's professional opinion, the potential benefits of the medical use of marijuana would likely outweigh the health risks for the qualifying patient." Patients diagnosed with the following illnesses are afforded legal protection under this act: cachexia; cancer; glaucoma; Hepatitis C; severe, debilitating, chronic pain; severe nausea; seizures, including but not limited to, those characteristic of epilepsy; or severe and persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to, those characteristic of multiple sclerosis or Crohn's Disease; or agitation of Alzheimer's Disease. Other conditions are subject to approval by the Rhode Island Department of Health. Patients (and/or their primary caregivers) may legally possess 2.5 ounces of cannabis and/or 12 plants, and their cannabis must be stored in an indoor facility. The law establishes a mandatory, confidential state-run patient registry that issues identification cards to qualifying patients. Patients who do not register with the Department of Health, but have received certification from their physician to use medicinal cannabis, may raise an affirmative defense at trial. The Department of Health has 90 days from the passage of this act to establish rules for issuing identification cards to qualifying patients.

let me clarify one thing, i would never concider mj while on the job. this would be a strickly off the job thing.
but testing is a "lifestyle" type of thing, its including what you have done when your off the job.
i'm not crazy about it but if i wanna keep my job, i've no choice.
i guess what i would have to do is sit down with the power that be and see how they feel.
i'll cross that bridge, if and when.
I have never tried MJ mainly because I have an addictive personality - smoked cigarettes heavily for many years & it was a nightmare giving that up. It is also illegal where I am.

(JMHO - I think pot should be legal period; if booze and ciggies are legit, so should the comparatively mild maryjane. Doesn't mean it's not bad for you, doesn't mean it's not addictive, it's just, people gotta make their own choices. When goverments start making the people's choices for them it's bad news
