3 Things with my shoulder... | Arthritis Information

Alright, so even though I'm a google junkie, and I'm constantly going on google binges for information for other people...I some how neglected to to a search on my shoulder pain that I've been b****ing about for the past 3 months.

These are the three things that I fit the most symptoms of. This sucks.

1. Severe tendonitis AND bursitis. Yes, combined.

2. A fracture that did not heal properly - we're talking hairline, or just a teeny weeny piece that split off my shoulder blade.

3. Ankylosing spondylitis. Yes. I know. Makes no sense, but the symptom list was rediculous. Like a mirror.

So my suspicion is the first one, mainly because I'm more comfortable with that idea, and it doesn't scare me like the other two do. Anyone ever had this in their shoulder?

Number 2 is believable, trust me if you heard my shoulder pop, you would go "oh yeah, that could have broken" Sooo I suppose, but that scares me cause from the looks of it, that would require surgery to FIX what I screwed up. JOY. not.

Number 3, honestly, just scares the ever living piss out of me. First of all it says that usually males get it. Hahaha look I may seem dyke-ish at times but come on. (LoL I'm kidding) Anywho, the reason that caught my attention is the whole back pain and knee involvement and hip and shoulder involvement. If it weren't for my elbows, I could honestly say that the ONLY joints/areas bothering me right now are text book of AS. Oh how freaking crappy.

Let's go with the first option. LoL Either way, I just want to know about everyone's experiences and knowledge with these. I've already googled just about all I can google. So don't post me any links unless you found them on page 82 and it's just really really good extra info. LOL

Thanks :)

Katie, when you and I were talking about your shoulder, I was thinking the first one. They are checking me out for AS but that is more spine pain. You could have cervical spine radiating down through the shoulder. But since your shoulder is actually popping, that could indicate bone damage like one sees in OA.

In other words, don't freak out. That really isn't your style. It is possible that you are getting inflammation in your spine fromt the RA which I suspect is what is happening in mine.

Even if it is AS, the treatment is the same as RA using the biologics and exercises. But it might explain why sitting on that stool is absolutely killing you.

If it is tendonitis or even a fracture, cyst or bone spur they can treat it arthoscopically which means you will have a short recovery time. In other words, that is treatable even if it means surgery.

Just add this to the list of things you want investigated as soon as you get insurance. It is going to be okay because you are one of the toughest women I've ever met. And, it's okay to be scared. March is almost here. Find out what your insurance group number is and make an appointment now for when your insurance is active to shorten your wait time.

I do have similar problems and know what you are so scared about. But it is what it is and we can only deal what we are handed. You have excellent coping skills. Write me if you want to talk more.

Hi, Katie, haven't spoken to you in a long time. Sorry to read about the shoulder, but know nothing in that area except, perhaps -

GOOGLITIS??? (ha,ha.) Luck, Des.

LOL thank you des. That was a laugh that I needed :) Googlitis...I have that. BAD too!

Deanna - thank you. I'm trying not to freak out. It's more that I'm just so tired of hurting and wondering and waiting, I just feel like I'm going to break. Argh. The surgery thing still scares me to death. The only surgery I've ever had was my wisdom teeth and I was so violently ill from the anasthesia(sp) *shudders* I don't wanna!!!

Thanks for listening to me whine!!
Katie, I also have bad side effects from the anethesia. I just tell the doctor what it was and they adjust the medicines. Besides, like everything else, the medications have changed considerably over the years. Our dear sweet Katie hasn't been around "over the years" maybe through the years but definitely not over.  LMAO I know I know. I'm a youngin. Rub it in Roxy. LOLHi Katie, over the years I too have had this and a heating pad helped me, but it took a while.  I have noticed that you are also on the Misfit board and I used to be a member there, but am now a lurker because they have some good info on there and also some interesting people. When I was a member there we discussed that having this shoulder problem made it very difficult to wipe our little butts properly.  Well, John came up with the idea of puting a wet facecloth on the doorknob and backing up to it.  This joke continued for quite a while and we all came to the conclusion that a red facecloth was the better choice. It is still mentioned on that board every now and then.  LOL
Hope you find this helpful Katie.  Sorry about your shoulders, hurts like heck doesn't it?

LMAO Thanks for the visual. Hahaha

Yeah, it's annoying. The pred kicked in finally today, and so I got some MUCH needed relief. I think I was about to hurt someone if I didn't get some help soon. :)
