AmbienCR/pain relief | Arthritis Information

Good morning,

For 8 nights I took Ambien and my pain level went from an 8 to 2.  Slept 7 hrs felt better and better.  Yesterday I went out and backed into a truck/trailer hitch and ruined my bumper. Never looked in the rearview mirror. Then I played a tape I have played almost every day and didn't recognize the songs coming at me were on that tape.  Then I went to a restaurant and in a few minutes felt so spaced out, like I had 3 glasses of wine and I didn't have any.  Now I was giving credit to the prednisone for my pain relief and I guess it was the ambien (how could that be?] Last nite I decided not to take any more and laid awake all nite and the pain came on strong, arms, shoulders, hands, knees.  I'm a mess this a.m. What do you all think????

Jule

Jule,

I do know that a good night's sleep (not to mention 8 in a row) does wonders for any kind of pain. I always found that lack of sleep made the pain so much worse. I used to take an antidepressant to help me sleep (the latest one was elavil), but the elavil always made me feel groggy and not with it in the morning, so I quit taking taking it. Guess I'd rather have some pain and be able to function, than no apin and out of it. Do you take prednisone, too? And how much? If you're still having a lot of pain, talk with your rheumatologist and see if there is something he can prescribe that will help.

Jule:  be careful don't mix wine etc with meds I know you are desperate when in pain....sleep is supposed to be a restorative miracle for pain, just to get there.  Try to work out your meds with the dr. as you need all the support you can get, but the alcohol is not something to take, prayers for you.  Rose
