What a great idea Barb.  I feel so close to you all even if it is geographical

I was raised in Oregon, lived in Arkansas for ten years in my 20s and now live in northern CA.  Chico - a college town - lots to do and beautiful hikes all around us.  I work in a park - 3670 acres of gorgeous country.  Barb, my honey lives in population 1300, in the Sierra Nevada mts. where I used to work.  I have lived in many small towns as a ranger.  I love them and I hate them I vote MB!!! That's cuz I love it though.  Although as much as I love it here, I'd jump at the chance to go back to Indiana.  My closest friends are there, my family is there except for my mom and hubby.   So, either I want to go back or convince em all to move here.  Do you come to MB often?  Want any insider info?
wayney

Virginia Beach here.

Hi, Waddles.  What part of Hampton Roads are you in?  Let's get specific to city.  Wouldn't it be a hoot if you lived next door?

Love the post!  I live in Austin, Texas.  Born and raised here!

I am in Alabama about 64 miles from Birmingham & Montgomery.

I was born and raised in California for the first 13 years of my life.

We moved to Alabama because this is where my oldest sister lives, and where my oldest brother and 2nd oldest sister would travel back and forth to California from.

I still have a brother that lives in Cali he visits all of us every 2-4 years. He will be out here to visit us this July 16-23.

I have a half brother & sister that still lives in California too.

From Cork, Rep of Ireland. On the sunny south coast.

Born, and lived in Williamsport PA for the first 21 yrs; then lived in Maryland for the next 21 years; now living just outside Martinsburg, West Virginia.

That fire made news all the way to CA???? WOW.. i was up til like 2 watching the news... go figure i try to go to bed early and i get hooked! It was still burning today, hot spots... prolly burn til way into tomorrow.. My friend is on vacation in SD area and said it was on the news there too.. it was 99 years old, an old studebaker plant and other historic things. Ford was there for a while too.. 5 alarms! whole city block... gone! That's so sad...all that history gone

Grew up in Wa. State, moved to Hosbach West Germany (4 yrs), back to Wa. State (6yrs) then to Fayetteville NC (ughhh..too hot for me) and now back in Wa. State and never leaving again!

I live in Cheshire, England (not far from Liverpool).

Any more Brits out there?

I'm in Wales, UK.   Have lived in Essex, Kent, East Sussex, and now a change of accent!

Good Morning World,

Seems we have the "Whole World" in our Hands or at least on our board...

Sara,
I am not in VA Beach, Norfolk is where I call home but I did start out in Va Beach, when I moved to Va from Michigan.  I lived in the apartment complex called Eastwood Villa, I think the new name is East Wind Apts. now....We may not be next door neighbors but "kissin couzins, comes to mind...LOL.

Wayney,
So your dollar is on Myrtle Beach, Mine is too.  I love Myrtle Beach   I haven't been there in about 5 years, so I am quite sure things are changing, I hope not to much. The people there are some of the nicest I have ever met.  My husband was born in Indianna, from what he has told me, he enjoyed living there too but then his parents moved to Mississippi (Gulfport) just around the time he went into the service, so he never went back there after he got out of the service.

Lovie,
My son lives in Charlotte NC.  He said he is not moving back to VA.  I was thinking about retiring to Ashville NC( I love Mountains)  but not to sure my RA is ready for colder weather than we have here.  Even with the short Winters we have, the cold still gets to me.

I have totally enjoyed this topic...It is so great to put a face on everyone even if it is through what part of the world we live in...Now when I read everyones post, I can see where everyone is at...Life is Good.

Have a simply MARVELOUS DAY  everyone.
Waddles

I agree with Waddles...it's neat to see where everyone is from. I'd love to visit some of these place. I remarried for the second time in November and my husband and I went to the Bahamas. Our summer trip is planned for Mexico with all of our children....we hope; but I might be asking for travel pointers from some of you guys. My husband insists that we are going to be doing some traveling!!

He mentioned just the two of us going to Canada soon. Sure would like some advice there; I have no idea about that.

Until now the only places I'd ever been were Myrtle Beach, SC (Wayney I've been in your back yard almost every year of my life!!) and once to Florida. Sad huh?

Things they are a changing though!!

Waddles,
It sure has kept changing.  So many new roads right now.  It's hard to keep up with all of the changes.  I've seen quite a few in the 10 years I've been coming here.

Lovie,
where, if i can be nosy enough, do you stay?  next time you come down let me know and we can meet somewhere.  that goes for all y'all really.

We've stayed in numerous Hotels right on the main strip in Myrtle Beach. This last time my husband I were there we stayed at Coral Reef? I think that's what it's called.

My husbands mentioned doing some business there and me tagging along some....if he does that I'll be sure to let you know. I'd LOVE to meet you in person.

This has been so interesting.  What a fun topic. I am from Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Lovie, I am just "down the road" from you! Love your mall!

Leslie

I'm in upstate NY. A little village called Wellsville, about 100 miles south of Rochester.  Pop 5,000 roughly.

WOW...Leslie; what a small world. My 15 year old is spending the day at Carowinds today....I spent half my childhood there myself.

How cool is that!!

Waddles--

I might be closer than you think.

If any of you are ever vacationing in Virginia Beach (we get lots of Canadian tourists) let me know.  I'll buy you a cup of coffee...

Lovie,

I worked at Carowinds from 1772-1975.  If you went there when you were a toddler ( I am guessing from an earlier post you are in your thirties....(?) you may have passed my ice-cream cart!

I would love to be there myself if I could get out in the sun. Taking three photo-sensitive meds really changes what you do on a pretty day! The doxicycline won't let me go out even with sunscreen on when it is really bright out.

Leslie

I may have in fact been by your ice cream cart as a child!! lol

My Grandmother had a company picnic there every year when I was younger; then as a pre-teen and teenager we all had season passes and I think our parents used it as babysitters!! We practically lived there. What a fun summer job that would have been.

You're right...I'm 34.

Less13: you must be a walking miracle... working from 1772-1975 and then still around today!!!

Sorry... couldnt resist making a joke!

Guess I had better edit that post! Sometimes it feels like I have been working that long......

Leslie

Maybe we need a mini AI fest for those in this neck of the woods huh?  Lovie, I know where the Coral Reef is.  Near where I used to live actually.  We lived on the south end right on Ocean when we first moved to the beach...one of those dive motels that seem a bit scary.  Great for just starting out and being barely employed.  Now we are on the north end.  it's much quieter. also we're not on the ocean.

i'll pm my number and you can give me a holler if you plan on being here.

Iowa here.

I am from Southern Oregon......lived 30yrs in Portland and had to get out of the rain...moved to Northern California and now back in Ashland, Oregon.

I work in Sacramento area right now so that is where my Rheumy is for now.  My job takes me to anywhere I want to go pretty much but right now I am happy in Sacramento.

This is a fun thread.    I havent posted much but hope to become more active on here.

Hey Nursey.  I love Ashland.  I am 1.5 hours north of Sacramento in Chico.  Raised in Oregon.  Welcome to the board.

Haven't posted in awhile but am enjoying reading where everyone is from.  I'm from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.   I'm about a 10 minute drive from the U.S./ Canada border, so visit the beautiful state of Washington fairly often.....only 2 1/2 hours to Seattle from here.

Becky

Hi all! What a great topic. It's great to hear where everyone is from.

I was born in Dallas, lived a couple of summers in Seattle where I met my husband-to-be. We now live in Austin, Texas.

(Hi TBird -fellow Austinite !!!)

Nursey, I'm in Sacramento too.  Who is your rheumy?

Just South of Boston, Massachusetts.

Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

I'm in Massachusetts too. Just west of Boston.

Was wondering where all the New Englanders were hiding

Mariex

I'm in Minnesota, about an  hour and a half south of Duluth.  Didn't I see an earlier post from someone in Duluth?  (Sorry, memory's not the greatest these days.)

Cris

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope the Sun is shinning where ever you may be...

Sara,

I am LOL...  You are only 5 minutes away, by car, to my house if there is no real traffic on Va.Bch.Blvd.  We will have to get together and have coffee and a gab- fest... I will PM you or you can PM me...Maybe we can get to together...

Hi Christene and Nursey,

I'm a Sacramento person too! Actually, I live in Davis, but my rheumy is in Sacramento. He's Dr. Robert Shapiro. My HMO is Pacificare and I selected Sutter West as my medical group and he was one of the options. I don't know that I'm 100% satisfied though, so I'd love to hear about other doctors in the area!

This has made for a great read!  I'm in Louisville, KY.  I'm not from here but have lived here 12 years.

My husband is from West Palm Beach, FL and I am from Norman, OK.

We met in Georgetown, Colorado where we had lived with our first spouses for 15 years or so.

His work brought us to Kentucky and we are planning on retiring in St. Augustine, FL.............Soon!

We just bought a place there last year and once you have a place....gosh it's hard to sit back here in KY and work and wait.

Won't be too much longer.

Want to thank those who responded to my post last night.   Waiting to find out and dealing with the pain at the same time is awfully hard on me. Thanks, I needed a word or two.

Also, this is certainly an interesting demographic group.  Makes me want to get a map and put pins in it.

I thought it interesting that I am the only person so far from Kentucky...maybe they moved because they could not get in to see a doctor.

Have a great weekend and I'm looking forward to making friends.

Gem

P.S. I don't spell well....please excuse any errors forever..

Hey Willow

Small world  he is my rheumy too....So far I like him pretty well....his wife is a Nurse Midwife at Sutter

I live in Ottawa, Canada.  Am I the only Canadian here? I think someday we should have a ra message board meet each other party.  Location somewhere in the middle.  Where is the middle ?  lol

Elizabeth

Hi..

I've enjoyed reading this...a nice idea...Thought I might chime in for FLORIDA.  We live here in Jacksonville, on the Northeast coast.  Boy have we had the rain this week end.

Sally

Yet, again BUMP!!

Let us know where you are from!!

P.S.  I think we need to make this a sticky post! Wonder how we go about doing that?

Hey Lovie, Been to Lowe's Motor Speedway 1 time....and loved it....hope to go back asap!!!

I've been to the "Speedway Club" there on a few different occations, but I've never been to a race as long as I've lived here!!

Guess you could say I'm not much of a race fan.

Nice to see you back Ashlea.

Hey Monk!! A chat sounds GREAT!!!

To bad I do not have my own website. I would set up a chat room for us all to chat in. I miss chatting in chat rooms since now you have to pay!!!

I chat alot on MSN Messenger. To my brother & a few others I meet in a chat room way back about 4 years ago.

Maybe I can see if my brother will allow me to add a chat room to his website for us. And if all goes well, and we get alot of chatters, maybe we can ask AI's site owner to add a chat to this website.

 Hey Lovie:

We're neighbors. I love Concord Mills. You're about 45 mins down I-85 from me. Come and see these *^^)* pigs.

 Hey Jooniper!

Great Minds Don't ch'a Know? Bummer that it's a cost now for a chat room.  I'd be willing to throw my two cents in. Have a pain free night all.

Peace.

...has anyone ever thought of starting a forum of their own so we could have
a "Let's Just Talk!" section where we could put all these cool things like bios
and where are we and jokes and stories and chatty things without them
disappearing off the page all the time? This forum is great and all, but it's so
busy in here we need sections like general talk, a sound off section for
ranting, questions about medications, questions about different
symptoms....

It's probably a bit forward of me, but the RA part of this boards is so
hopping it would warrant it.

That is a good idea albear. I thought of those ideas.

It would be nice to have those sections. It would make it easier to keep up with the posts of newbies as well.

I'm a newbie from New Richmond Pennsylvania! We're sooo small here that all we have is a resturant and an ice cream stand with a miniture golf course. Need there be anything else!?!

Hi,

I'm from Randolph, MA -- about 10 miles so of boston.

Hey,

I'm a military brat and my husband was in the Air Force.  After living in many places,  settled in Lake County FL (by Orlando).
Murphette38577.6781365741hey all im from humid and hot  penna.Hulagirl:  I have tons of pix of the surrounding area.  I'll have to figure out how to post a few.  Meanwhile, go to the library and take out a picture book on Yellowstone National Park and you will see the beautiful area in which I live.

KarenNTx:  Sorry, there are precious few jobs here and the ones that exist pay very little.  I came here to retire after my arthritis made working untenable--I had a hard time holding a camera--so I wasn't concerned with the job market.

PamS:  LOVED your dancing bears!!!!!

Been extra humid & hot here, too Deb.  Look forward to Dr. visits just to get in the A/C.

I can't even hold one of those library books, Kidlet.  But I see alot of Yellowstone on those travel, disc channels.  Absolutely gorgeous.  Bet you stay nice and cool there.
