So, the big thing about pred is how it makes everyone gain weight and break out, right? Hahahaha okay that's not funny. Sorry.

I think it's actually CLEARING my skin up. I am so serious. Super serious. And I have a theory as to why. I am a chronically dry person (greg you perv...) I get the dandruff and dry skin..I've always had mini patches of excema(sp) on my cheek and under my nose. No moisturizer on earth is meant to clog your pores, but when your skin is SO thirsty, I think it's inevitable. So I've always had to be careful with what I use, because it all just clogs me up and breaks me out.

Well since I started the pred. my face has cleared - mean CLEARED and I have no flakeys!! At all. Anywhere. It's amazing. Do you suppose that pred increases natural skin oil production, and thats why most people break out? But for me, I'm so naturally DEPRIVED of those oils, that this is balancing me out?

Don't hate me! LoL

the pred would be settling down the eczema and probably settling any type of inflammation on your skin.

You might be on to something.

I'm gonna copyright my idea.......LOL can I do that? Make the companies pay me to use pred on acne patients? lmao that's so mean......I really hope everything stays like this!!Katie, I'm glad you are getting such a thrill out of pred. Does this mean we get to see a picture of you, maybe on your blog?Maybe. I have my myspace pics, but they are sort of old now. Especially since I cut my hair. I have that ONE pic on my myspace that has me with the shorter hair. I really am planning on doing some big big big picture taking here soon. I want to set up a "virtual vacation" somehow. I'll try to get a couple of pics of me in there too!

Oh that reminds me I gotta update my Myspace pic too. (hair cut)

Yeah well while I was giggling over my clear skin, I didn't notice my fat fingers and my chipmunk cheeks. Hahaha It's okay, I'll take this "fluffiness" over the pain ANY DAY. Wheeeee!!!!!!!!

If it's clearing your skin, it has to do with a hormonal imbalance that it may be correcting, NOT producing oily skin. First, dandruff is not caused by dry skin, it is caused by overactive sebaceous glands-- meaning extra thick, extra oily sking that is flaking off. And prednisone usually causes extra thin skin, so that is the opposite of thick skin-- that's why it ay be helping your dandruff. Eczema is caused by allergies, and allergies and inflammation are calmed down by prednisone. People with autoimmune disease often have allergies and hypersensitive immune system. So that makes sense that the eczema is clearing. People with AI disease often have low testosterone, so prednisone is adding hormone which may be correcting the acne.

Many people claim dry skin from prednisone-- but that comes more from the thinning of sking rather than drying.

Predisone helped me immensely my first round - five months worth - took down all the inflammation, took away my pain, and I lost a ton of weight.  I am getting the impression that we each have our own personal autoimmune system with different responses and different results, and the MDs plan to "box" us all into certain ICDM codes to get paid doesn't work for us.

Pred clears my skin too.

But whatever is making me have an entire crop of milia on the skin over my cheek bones, responds wonderfully to pred.

Topical cortisone helps a little but not like a dose of pred!
