Oh how I just love her to death.

I started out 6 weeks ago on MTX pills. By my 3rd dose I had lost almost 20 pounds from puking and naseausness among other side effects not so pleasant. Started MTX injection on week 5 after skipping a week to get my stomach calmed down. Dr said that injection was better for tummy. Got my first shot and OH my did I have a bad reaction. Everything that I had with the pills plus the feeling of being "drunk" no muscle control, severe headache, dizzy ect... Rheumy had never seen this kind of reaction to MTX in her 30 yrs of service and was not 100% convinced that it was the MTX and asked if I would try one more injection. I said yes. Well I got my injection last night after work at 4:15, went straight home and when i went to get out of my car I almost fell down and was so dizzy and then the headache came on so i laid down and by 10pm my whole body hurt so bad. Every joint in my body was so stiff and hurting and by 1am I was so nauseaus and throwing up. I know my Rheumy said to call her on Sat (today) to let her know how I was but i hate having her paged and hadn't yet and at 8:45 this morning my phone rings and its her!! We talked for almost an hour and I told her everything that happened with me last night and she said no more MTX i had convinced her. So Monday I go in for my TB test and she wants to get my on Enbrel ASAP as my RA is out of control. hands, wrists, shoulders, elbows, hip, knees, ankles, feet and toes. toes and a couple of fingers are starting to curve.

But anyway I am just in awe at how my rheumy took the time to think enough of me to call me from home.

Brenna, so sorry the MTX made you so sick. I can't believe she actually made you go through the last dose. But at least she was on call for you and that's really rare.

Better luck with the Enbrel. Girl, you need some relief.

It always just seems easier to cope when the person who is in charge actually takes the time to care about you personally.  You have a great rheumy, never let her go.

Oh you poor thing! Yucky! You're so lucky that she was on your side though!! pam's right, do NOT let her go!! You need to bake her cookies and buy her movie tickets and stuff. LOL

Its wonderful when our docs are on our side.

What a wonderful doctor you have!

my rheumy's b-day is next week and I ordered a springy floral arrangement to be delivered and just had the card say "Have a Very Happy Birthday. From a very appreciative patient."

your dr sounds so nice! mine makes house calls to (i got a call at 930 at night on a saturday with my xray results) i think the dr makes all the difference. I was wondering if it might be a bad reaction from another drug you were on from another condition, or if your dr mentioned anything about it.

I hope the enbrel works wonders for you, but i guess at this point anyhting is better than your mtx reaction!
