Can’t I pass just one test | Arthritis Information

You know how insurance companies are, they want all these regular female tests and I've avoided getting a mammogram for years.....years...

Finally, consented to getting one done because they are covering all my medical. Darn if I didn't have to get a second mammogram ordered. It's probably just that stupid fibrocystic breast disease. But they are going to squeeze the booby again. I said as long as they do it BEFORE the shoulder surgery.

Can I please walk into a doctor's office without another script for anthor test that prompts another test or another added med. Contrary to popular opinon, I do not like tests, docs or blood work. I would be perfectly content not to see any of them ever again.

And, no, I haven't had the pap test done in years either. Are you kidding? I had the hysterectomy and that area sees no activity. I suppose I will have to relent to that test at some point too. But I'm not in a big hurry.

No more tests. None. No. I mean it. Get away from me with that diagnositc device. I'm not kidding. How would you like me to shove that thing in some uncomfortable crevice of yours? No more squishing of the boobies.

Oh my Deanna, if it's not one thing it's another.  I was called back for a second mammo too and it was because the technician forgot to put a sticker on a mole that I had.  Of course it looked suspicious!  Of course I concented to a 2nd one and told them about the mole and left there with an apology.  And I was also told that after a complete  hysterectomy that you do not need a pap test. Just leave us along for goodness sake!

Good luck Deanna.

I remember when I was younger going for tests never bothered me at all. Now, it's like peering over the edge of cliff.

Deanna, Poor, sweet thing! I surely understand how you feel. I've said those exact, same words! Really.

I saw my regular doc today, the one I've been with for 13 years, and asked him again about my pap test. It seems to change every few years. I had a hysterectomy, too, when I was 30. Anyway, I asked him if I still need this every year, as I am now 59, and lacking cervix. He said, actually, every 3 years would be often enough. Even though we don't have most of that stuff, there are still other things they test for on occasion. But not necessary annually unless you have other problems that would indicate a need for it.

As for mammogram, try not to worry. I've been through that a few times, too. There is a five member breast cancer history in my family so I've been getting mammograms since age 35, and every secondary check has been the fibrocystic breast disease. It's absolutely worth getting checked, though.

I told my Sweetie that I'm going to quit going for any tests they want to do. Just like you said: Every test leads to the need for more tests that show a problem requiring a new specialist who wants more tests that show more problems, etc.....I does indeed get old.

But seriously, Sweetie, please let us know how it turns out. And please, please get your pap if it's been that many years, okay?

Gentle hugs and Blessings

Nini

You have passed quite a few tests recently Deanna & I am sure you are on a roll now.
Best of luck,

I am sorry Deanna. See now you see why I do not want to go to doctors... it is always something, otherwise a doctor would never see ya. I am going to have to go back to the gyno again soon too. I just hate it when my male gyno does my breast exam, makes me feel funny. Never had a mammo, but my mommy has

Hope it all turns out to be nothing. Good Luck!

And, yes, there's a bit of worry. Of course, the note they wrote sounded really scary and then they laughed at me when I called for the results (three times and they just ignored me) and they said it was nothing. I'm sure it is nothing. Really, I'm sure.

Oh, and I'll get the pap but after all the surgeries etc. I do not need more stress.

Deanna39128.3443402778Ack.  Sorry to hear about all the tests but I totally understand where you are coming from.  I've been good about my papas and for my reward at my last pap last month, I got a script for a mammogram as well.  Haven't made the appt yet, too much other crap going on.  I'm only 36 for crying out loud and have little itty bitty boobies as well.  If there was a bump, I would feel it!  I know that's not necessarily true but another test I do not need right now!

I'll make you a deal, when you schedule your pap, I will schedule my mammogram!

You're on, Michele. I can't believe your sense of humor has survived through the kind of week you've had. But it makes you amazing!

OMG Deanna,  I think you need to stay away from the tests until you get passed your surgeries.  You are wearing me out worrying about you every time you start a new thread
