Argh. I can soo relate!!!

Hi Michele

I can do sarky so applied for a job but failed on the nail filing

I didn't want to wait three months so made an appointment for next week with one of the other gps that I've seen before. I'll see if I can switch registers, it didn't bother me before I had RA and hypothyroid but now that I'm a bit more of a regular I would like to build up a rapport with the same gp

Sarky?

I think thats the English version of bitchy!

Means sarcastic. Abbr.

Ah, the evil nurse or deskpilot,

I have had many many run ins with the species... Have changed GP's over them before.

Just to toss in the other side....

You'd be amazed at how many patients come in with an attitude, demanding the appointment time they want, etc. etc.....it goes both ways.  I treat our patients with respect and kindness however I have had many rude obnoxious patients.....Thankfully we have a lot of wonderful patients which outweighs the bad ones.

Wow, I can do sarky too!  I'll have to put that on my resume! In two days I had both my primary and my urgent care for my broken toe mess up my files with another patient, and scared me to death, and I had to fight to get them to admit finally they gave me the wrong person's lab results.  Gawd, Frat Boy MD Nation  Bet I get dismissed by both of them for their screwups.  Patient dumping, the wave of the future of American medicine.

Thank you Debrakay, I was just about to go hide from the arrows.  I'm a medical receptionist and I agree with Debra.  Yes there are some bitchy ones out there but there are also some bitchy patients who call at 5:30 and want to see the doc first thing in the morning please....  Sorry, he's fully booked....  I have a appointment later this evening...   no I'm going out tonight...  you can always come in on Sunday...   no it costs more on Sunday...   if you call in the morning there might be a cacellation.... let me talk to the doctor, he'll see me if I tell him what it's about.... Ok just a moment....  they speak to the doctor and come back on line and say.....  are there any appointments Monday.....

Some folks just feel that they have a right to see the doc when they want and damn everyone else.   I try to stay cheerful and positive and accomodating as much as possible but some folks do try my patience.  Most of us do try to help but I also know of some that are super bitchy, I actually left a job because the other receptionist was too much to handle.

Some of us are nice....

I think I personally have a lot of patience with our patients because I was one of them.  I know what it's like to be in pain, so I'll do my best to be sure their scheduling, appointments, etc. go smoothly. It's just an easier process with someone nice.

I just hired a new front end girl and I spent more time on that part of the job.  My fingers are crossed that she doesn't become "snarky".
