RA & Rituxan | Arthritis Information

I have just re-joined tonight after being off the 3-4 years. I am 64 yrs old and have had RA since 1961. I have been on numerous medications over the years with varying degrees of success.

Last Aug. I started with a new procedure and wondered if anyone has has success with it. It's Rituxan, an infusion process that lasts about 8-10 hours over two weeks. The first infusion lasted about 6 hrs and the second about 4 hrs.

I would really like to hear from someone who's had the procedure to know how well it is working for them.

I appreciate the coming rush to the keyboard to answer this post.

 Thanks

new to this. i am 59 and havr had ra for 3 years. tried just about everything. had first and second infusion of rituxan in january . so far feel quite a lot better. no side effects. interested to know how you are

I had my first infusion of Rituxan in August '06 and 15 days later the second infustion. 6 hrs on the 1st infusion, about 6 hrs on the 2nd infusion. The set up was really a pleasant experience, I have been able to reduce my prednisone to 5mg a day. The treatment effects are supposed to last 6-9 months reduction of symptoms. My rheumy said that he hopes it will forever. I have other chronic illnesses, but I can say that if all I had was the RA, I would have ran a few marathons by now.
