RA Meds & infections | Arthritis Information

I just read an interesting article in New Yorker magazine about doctors and the mistakes they make with patients. One doctor was treating a man who had an infection 'they couldn't find', so they didn't allow him to eat any raw food! Interesting, that we with autoimmune disease are constantly told to 'be careful' of infections.  I was thinking of people with colds, and all (they breath on you everywhere), but we also must be aware of bacterial infections from fresh foods? Has anyone experienced this before?

I haven't experienced it but rule of thumb is to wash all your fresh food before eating it.  I wonder if the doc meant raw food like sushi or undercooked meat etc.
