Trouble Healing On Prednisone | Arthritis Information

I fell and got my knee scratched up a bit and it just does not want to heal.

Anybody found that the Prednisone keeps them from healing properly?

~KewaneeI have had no problems.  Working on a farm, I'm always scratching or cutting myself on something.  Oddly enough, I haven't even had a cold since I started on it, unless the prednisone suppresses the symptoms so I fight off an infection without knowing I've got it. ???Thank you Ruth. Boy am I glad I don't get all scratched up like that! I'd be in real trouble.

I had heard pred. can lower your resistance to infection so thought maybe....

~KewaneePrednisone can slow the healing process. I broke 7 ribs in August and two of them are still completely without any healing at all. My doctor says that it is the steroids. Also, the skin becomes very fragile and thin with steroid use. I find terrible looking blood blisters if I jsut simply scratch a small insect bite on my arm.  The subcutaneous fat is taken from your arms and other places and redistributed to your face, torso and back. This stuff sort of rearranges your body. I expect to wake up with an extra head on my shoulders one morning. Susan M.Susan,
I have been told that broken ribs are very painful. Who needs a longer time to heal?

I thought I'd noticed more prominence in certain vessels.

The one appearing in my forehead and risen makes me a bit concerned about the GCA possibilities.

Thank you for your input. I hope you are going to get some help with those ribs not healing.

A friend of mine broke her foot and was not healing.
Doc. giving her all kinds of stuff and I'm not an advocate of anything by experience but she decided to try a more naturapathic kind of thing and got something called ----stitchery? It made the difference. She started to heal and the cast came off.

Boy, wish I could remember the complete name, but if you know a source bet you could get some.

Best wishes,
~Kewanee
