Deep heat wax treatment? | Arthritis Information

Hi, has anyone tried the wax teatment?

Do it. Do it. Do it. You will love it.

I have the parafin bath from Walmart that I use when my hands get bad. It really penetrates deeply and has brought my hands from not even being able to fix a peanut butter sandwich to mostly functional. Use it morning and night until you improve. Your hands (and you can get it for feet too) will be so soft.

I still drag mine out from time to time.

Also use the generic sports creme during the day. Such a simple thing but it really helps.

wow thanks, It its sitting on my kitchen table, all out and ready to try. I'll continue and let you know.

I think I might look into that as well.  I remember years ago during PT I had to dip my hands in hot wax...felt great....had to dip in a few times for a few layers of wax, then thney had me peel it all off once it was hard...then mold it into a ball.

Maybe I'll take a look at what walmart has.

Got mine at Wallyworld too.  My only issue....gets wicked hot.  Either I'm very sensitive to it, or my machine gets too hot but I need to pay attention.

Good luck.

Pleeeese tell me how you get the 'hard wax' back off of your hands?

Oh, you can't get it off, it's on there for good.  But the good news is, if you commit a crime, you won't be leaving any fingerprints behind!

I love mine....I must use it tonight.....thanks for reminding me!!!

Hurts - I'm not sure....the wax shouldn't be hard....it should still be plyable(sp) even after it's cooled.....:( Sorry

The wax "hardens" but it is still relatively soft, it is really easy to just pull of your hands. Got my wax bath at london drugs. All I can say is.. Amazing! It really helps me when the muscles around my joints are sore as well. The heat just soothes the aching joints as well. Do the wax, and then put the big mittens on to keep the heat in. After I do the wax treatment I put muscle balm or moisturizer on and it feels great. Usually I have my mom help me and we do both hands at the same time, other wise I would say do one hand at a time.

The wax that I use is specifically designed for the machine. It is very soft and peels off. Should have a couple of bricks that come with the machine. I don't use their bags which start to get expensive and hard to put on. I dip the first hand in wax and then insert into an open freezer bad then slip the glove on then I do the other one the same way. At first you might have to either do one hand at a time or have someone help you, but I got to where I can do both.

Then I remove the bag and glove and just peel the wax off. I love to play with it. You can get replacement wax bricks for about .00. You do have to totally melt the bricks the first time you use them. Be sure to wash your hands good and when the wax starts to get grimy, just replace it.

I'm thinkin' I gotta get me one of these!
