I've discoverd eating snack food helps with dexterity. Also, sewing as I have a needle threader on my machine, art work, and of course our computer keys.  Anything to keep moving those hands.  Tell me of your favorite 'exercise'.

I touch my fingers to my thumb repeatedly, or crumble newspaper to a small, tight ball. Those stress balls help build hand strength.

One thing I saw for feet with a PT patient is they had them picking up marbles with their toes and moving them or rolling them on the bottom of their feet.

While driving, I hold the steering wheel tightly and release it against the padded cover. Also, I use that time to move my arms up and down. It helps keep me a bit more limber.

Stretching and small weights and pulleys are my favorite outside of the water.

Yoga !   I'm up to about 45 mins a day now...not all at once.  Playing the mandolin is also good exercise for the hands.

I make jewellery.  Nice fiddly bits that keep the fingers moving.  For legs and arms I put velcro wrap weights on wrists and ankles and do some resistance exercise.

I took up Knitting about a year ago. I had begun to notice my fine motor skills were slipping; but I really think knitting has helped with that. I was worried that it would make my hands worse at first; but I really think the exercise is helping my hands verses hurting.....and it's a relaxing hobby that I'm really enjoying.

I only do a knit stitch because I enjoy the mindless motion if it.....but I've gotten pretty good at it!

Could you explain how you do the knitting. I've never understood it. start with bbig needles, yarn? Get someone to show me?

I thought this was going to be a thread about my favourite breakie cereal

Lovie, I've recently taken up hand knitting again - 10mm needles, 3 strands of DK yarn and garter stitch all the way. I'd forgotten how relaxing it is.

Hurts, you might find some help on this site, there is a forum full of knitting addicts who seem very helpful. Use big needles and fat wool to save your fingers though.

and no, it isn't my website lol

My daughter had gotten a book for christmas that showed you how to do it. I pretty much taught myself to do it. Look on line for instructions. It's fairly easy; but it just takes practice. It took me a while before I could make a scarf that wasn't uneven.

Tink; what you do sounds a little complicated to me. Three stands?! I've just this past week done two strands. I'm making a really pretty scarf with regular TLC baby yarn and this fussy eyelash yarn. It's coming out beautiful.

I might check out that website myself later when I have time. Thanks!

Sounds like fun. I especially like to make things to give to our local senior center. My neighbor makes the cute booties!  What a great suggestion to keep the hands moving. I sew, am an artist, and of course, type away on the computer. Thanks, alll
