i am really amazed that i didn't think of this before, but ice does take down the swelling...duh! I kept waiting for the drugs to work. Prednisone, took away the pain, but still left me stiff hands/feet. Methotrexate and Remicade haven't had time to work yet. Because of the pain my hands/feet have been immobilized for weeks. I'm gently moving, them more and more into the 'closed' position. The posts under swollen hands and feet and the suggestions really helped!! Thanks, hurting less.TTTHurts - there is a place on line called Isabellas and they sell these mittens and booties and wrist bands you can either freeze or heat in a microwave - someone told me Walgreens carries them also but I have never seen them there - okay anyway these are worth their weight in gold - I can't use ice on my feet but I freeze them for my hands and wrists all the time - be sure and check for leaks each time you use them in the microwave but so far mine are okay.
