Prednisone/Off ASAP | Arthritis Information

I keep reading about the negatives of prednisone and would like to 'try' to get off of it ASAP. I take 2 now, for a week, then 1 next week then none. What happens if you go off too soon. Just stop? Does the pain return? (I'm taking methotrexate and remicade)It looks like you are weaning off the dose and that's the right way. You
can't just stop. It's really bad for your system. Also, it will cause the pain
to return and a killer headache.

Take you time. I have been on pred for 4 years now. Started it before my
son was born and have stayed on it. I am down to 5 which is great cause
I used to be on 90mg. It has been really frustrating cause everytime I get
to a lower dosage I get a major flare and the dr. bumps me back up
again. He did say that anything under 10mg shouldn't cause major side
effects but I am still sick of the stuff.

Good luck

BeckyDear Rebecca, thank you for that information.  I've been gaining weight (feel hungry all the time), retaining water but taking diuretics, and think I'm getting that 'moon face' you all talk about. It just seems like the right time to try to stop taking it.  As you say, gradually.
