My liver enzymes keep fluctuating, my DR. took me off methotrexate for 4 months and I had a liver ultrasound. It said fatty liver not medication induced! I am now back on it, and my count is still up and down.I feel like I'm more concerened than my DR. Anyone else have this problem and should I insist on seeing a liver specialist? My insurance doesn't cover any RA medication, I have been thinking of quitting methotrexate and trying advil? I feel like crap for about 2 days after the methotrexate, sometimes I wonder if it's worth it! Katie

Advil may relieve some of the pain but its not going to slow the progression of damage.  You need to be on a dmard, like placquinil or imuran or avara.

If your liver cannot accept methotrexate, a powerful drug, then you have to look elsewhere.

There is an effective alternative but many are not aware of or simply dismiss what is not a mainstream of orthodox medication.

I have long threw out drugs (more than 18 years), I take simple wild lingzhi, a superb natural herb known to the Chinese and Japanese more that 3.000years ago.

This humble herb does not have side effect and help to revitalize the healthy body. Why so complicated this drug that drug! Its work wonder.

there is some evidence that milk thistle help to cleanse the liver.  I know several people who have taken it and their liver counts improvedI have heard about milk thistle too.

Advil will not stop the disease. Plus, the amounts at which you would
probably have to take it without being on RA drugs would hurt your liver
as well. My liver counts also go up and down but the dr. said that
anywhere from 2 to 3x the normal reading is ok. I feel the way that you
do...if it is elevated, I want to know why.

I use the Healthwell Foundation to cover my RA meds. I am a teacher so I
don't make the highest salary and things do get expensive. I was actually
just re-approved this week.   You can go to their website or I am sure you
google about prescription drug coverage/supplemental insurance and
find some help. Also--ask your RD. My dr. is the one that set me up
with HF. They did all the paperwork and I was good to go!

Insist on seeing a liver specialist. Fatty liver, if not watched carefully can morph into a cirrohotic(sp) liver, which is bad, very, very bad. If you aren't already, AVOID ALCOHOL, AVOID STRESS, and milk thistle is actually very good for you, but most important is to determine WHY you have fatty liver disease and fix it. GO TO A SPECIALIST!!!I would think you should stay on your meds, as you said it wasn't medication induced, and the last thing you need is to get your RA flaring as well.

My enzymes were so off I ended up with a liver biopsy - don't take any chances and go to a specialist - there is a reason this is going on and they need to find it.  Hugs and good vibes. You need to treat the fatty liver. Are you over weight? Laurat is right, this is
bad, bad, bad. Fortunately, your liver is very forgiving and will respond well
to a strict low fat diet, low simple sugar diet and watch the trans fats. The
only way to fix this is to fix the underlying disorder which is the fatty liver.
Ask your doctor what you can do. Your medications will not metabolize well
with this situation going on either.Dear Jessie: I don't know how much MTX you were taking, but yes, the liver is most important, so you must be careful.  I felt like I had 'the flu' for a few days after taking MTX (7 pills, down to 4, now 2 per week), but you know what I'm feeling better now.  Remicade 2nd dose, MTX-2 a week and Prednisone 3X5mgs per day. It is working for me.  Knock on wood. Good luck sorting this out. Thanks everone for the support.I am going to make me an appointment. I take 6 tABS weekly, what is a normal dose? The thing I dread most about seeing yet another DR. is it seems like every time you see a different DR. they want to change something that another has done. I got in a mess with this a few years back with my depression medication.Seems like everyone pushes a different drug. I could probally open a pharmacy with all my unused drugs! Too bad they can't be passed to someone who could use them! This waste really makes me mad! Jessie

All I need is simple appropriate "wild" lingzhi, herbs and natural foods. Nothing fastastic no big drugs' names!

I find, decide, learn, live and achieve the healthy lifestyle. Increase and promote your body healthiness gradually and disease likewise decrease and reduce to lowest level and perhap a cure.
