MRI today | Arthritis Information

Well, I had my MRI today.  They did a brain scan and a neck/shoulder/spine scan.  It took about an hour.  It felt a little uncomfortable in the machine...glad I'm not claustrophobic...not awful, but I'm glad it's over.  I see the neurologist next week, then back to the rheumy the following week.  I'm getting sick of doctors!  Hopefully I'll be able to continue with the Humira...it's been working very well for me.  The warm tingling shoulders / weak arms / nausea / dizzy / etc thing has subsided lately so it isn't really bothering me much.  I still think it's just the RA inflammation that's causing the symptoms and not the Humira.  If I take an NSAID it seems to go away pretty quickly.

I am soooooooo claustrophobic that i couldnt have a normal MRI scan done and opted for an open one. That was bad enough for me.

Hopefully, this will help you know better what is happening. But even if the MRIs come back clear, remember that sometimes it takes awhile for some things to show up. In other words, it's not all in your head and you are not overreacting.

I also notice more symptoms when my inflammation is high. If I take just 1 mg extra of prednisone, then my symptoms also diminish.

I hope you learn something this time and that is something that they can easily take care of.

I hope you have good MRI results and it is only the RA inflammation.

Good to hear the MRI is over- now don't forget to let us know what the doc says.  Hugs and good vibibes.Good Luck Alan.

My rheumatologist called this morning..she didn't see anything abnormal in the MRI scans that wasn't "consistent with my age"...well!!!  There were some bone spurs in my spinal column that might be a result of the RA, but they were small and she didn't think they would cause any problems. She cautioned me to wait and see what the neurologist says next week before drawing any conclusions but it sounds pretty good.

I wasn't actually in the machine for an hour.  It was about 4 different 10-15 min sessions with a dye injection before one of them.

Thanks for your concern.  I'll let you know what the neurologist has to say next week.

Alan
