What is feeding the troll? | Arthritis Information

 

Feeding the troll is responding to or even aknowledging they're there.
These sad souls are so starved for attention they will do or say anything
to get it. They believe they have nothing positive to offer for attention and
are therefore gratuitously obnoxious and confrontational. Please do not
encourage them by giving them any kind of attention. Trolls are a
problem that if you ignore it, it goes away. So.....

Please don't feed the troll.

I used to play spades all the time on Yahoo.  There would be people that would get in the game just to harass the other players and make the game long.  Never understood it.  Life is hard enough - you share kindness - you receive it back Anna_uk, I just bumped this up to the top as a reminder that when someone
seems to be stirring up trouble for the sake of getting some attention, a
good option to maintain harmony on the message board is to ignore them
until they decide to behave better.Thank you Gimpy-a-gogo.  Good advice from you and several others regarding this.

I like your definition of a troll.  Remember, that ANY attention is good attention to them.  Even a simple statement such as "don't feed the trolls". 

I always laugh because many people will get on a thread and say the exact same thing that someone else has said just to put in their ".02".  That is just the same, it is all attention.

This old thread might come in handy about now.Gimpy, you are absolutely right and I just found myself getting involved in a "stir it up" thread even though I promised myself I never would.  I just got so sick of the same crap over and over with no end in sight.  Of course, my posts on that thread won't change anything so I will take your advice. It would be nice if we all could agree to that, but it's not gonna happen, so they will continue to wreak havoc as often as they can, getting attention any way they can.  I dont think the "stir it up" thread is the same as feeding a troll.  I think that thread is the same as the other OT threads that arent people delibertly bashing othersKelsay, I'm referring to the thread by lorster going after lev and 65t(?) Edited to add:  I don't mean to be glib or stir things up further with the above comment. This isn't just about lorster.  I just wanted it ALL to stop, but I give up.  No more feeding the troll.  I'm out of that thread and will not frequent any others in a similar vein.

Call me crazy Jesse~ Ok my mistake...Yes it ALL should stop Forum, I had a post to Blessed here that was just not appropriate for a lets-deal-with-the-troll thread, so I created a new user name and pmed it to her. I just didn't want to have it on this thread. It turned her into a troll.

Sorry, Blessed, I know you had me blocked from your PM box, but it seems to me if you do that you should then refrain from publically sniping at me. If I wanted to respond to your call to arms I could only do so publically or make a new user name and do so privately. Usually you post my pms to you anyway, but that will be your decision to perpetuate this behaviour in public and not mine.
