I'm wondering if those on Enbrel could tell me your Rheum. recommendations for when to temporarily stop it. I have heard conflicting ideas on this( what a surprise). Some say only if you have a fever, an infection; others say even if you just have a head cold. Just wanted some input from here. Thanks.  Lou

Lou,

I would get clarification from your RD.  I agree that there is conflicting information floating around out there.  It appears that even most RD's can't really agree.

My RD told me that if I had a fever or had to be on antibiotics.  I didn't stop my Enbrel for a head cold.  Unfortunately for me, head colds generally turn into something that needs antibiotics anyways, so I guess it doesn't really matter how you split it.

I don't stop Humira for colds and haven't had any problems.  Since it's an injection every two weeks it would be hard anyway.

I was told by my rd if any sign of illness head cold, chills, etc. when I was on enbrel or now on humira he wants me to stop taking it.  One time I didn't at the sign of sinus problems and boy I had problems, I was off my med for quite some time.  meme
