mtx and nausea | Arthritis Information

I've been on mtx for one year (7.5 mg/week).  I have had no side affects from it.   But about 2 months ago I started getting nauseated.  I'm wondering if the mtx is starting to bother me now.   Has anyone had nausea develop after being on it quite awhile?

Susan I had nausea from it from the 1st injection.  I now take compazine before each injection.  It used to make me so sick and would last for about 2 or 3 days.  With the compazine I don't get any nausea.  Hope it gets better for you.

Susan,
I took it orally and had nausea.  Then I used the injection for several months.  After about 6 months or so, I started getting horribly nauseated (vomiting and the whole nine yards).  Eventually, I would be vomiting for 2 full days after the injection and then just horribly nauseated for another 2-3 days.  That was about the point my RD took me off of it saying that I had developed a sensitivity.

Ellie,
Interesting about the compazine!
I was taken off mtx because of the nausea, my dr feels that developed an intolerance for it and he won't consider putting me back on because while I was on it, my liver tests went south. I couldnt handle the tablet version of MTX myself, had a lot of nausea from it. Went on the Injectables and lasted for about 9 months before the nausea showed up again, my Doc reckons i became allergic to it. It does happen with this drug from time to time unfortunetly. Give your Rheumy a call, it might be time to change Meds.
