amazing grace... | Arthritis Information

I just returned from a weekend retreat in the redwoods near Santa Cruz, with about 80 men from our church.  I played in the worship band, and we rock !!!  It was loud and filled with extraordinary energy...makes you tingle inside (...or maybe that's because I was playing next to the drummer, who is quite insane...and young).  My son was home from college and went with me.  Last night he played saxophone with the band and was awesome!  We shared a solo on Amazing Grace that was very emotional for everyone...one of those once in a lifetime experiences.  This morning I did my yoga session and some meditation in the Cathedral Grove...a beautiful spot surrounded by redwood trees.  I felt so good!  It reminded me of a refrain from an old blues song "You've got to live your life, before you die..."  What does all this have to do with RA...we all need good days to balance the bad...just wanted to share mine.

Alan

Alan,

I am SO glad you got to experience that with your son.  I got tingles, just reading your post.  How awesome that you got to have a great day.  If I remember correctly, that is 2 for Alan~0 for RA

(I'm sure there are more, but that is all I could remember)

Lori

Sounds like an awesome weekend.  I cant wait til our next church weekend.  They are so relaxing, inspiring, fun and refreshing all at once. What an opportunity Alan!  I love to play worship music and my son is the drummer.  It is one of the things that can take me away from the RA for a while.

That's spectacular! Amazing Grace is a special song in my family as well. My real dad used to sing it as a solo in church, it was my grandfather's favorite song and when I went to visit my dad's grave with my two kids and their cousin, the four of us sung it together. It's full of hope and love.

I'm so happy for you.

Lovely post Alan. Whenever we can spend special times with our family (I play golf with my son and husband and we all walk the beach), it gives us inner peace, and strength. Thanks for the inspiring post. Hurting lessAlan, thank you for sharing one of your most memorable times.  I could almost hear the music.

Alan, thank you once again, for sharing something truly beautiful with us.

Like many of the others, Amazing Grace always fills my heart with a special peace. What a wonderful experience to share with your son!

Gentle hugs and Blessings,

Nini

Oh wow, how beautiful.

Dang, I wish I could find a good church/church group here. Every one I've tried to attend, the pastor is pimping the "new building" to keep up with every other church here. *rolls eyes* It's more about the money than anything else. (who wants to listen to a pastor who drives a 100K car, and wears 2k suits? That is NOT what church is about!!)

What a special treat!
