MEDICATION MISTAKE!! | Arthritis Information

DEAR FOLKS, I took 3 lasix (diuretics), instead of my prednisone this morning at 5 AM! The pill containers are the same, the lighting wasn't great, and I didn't read carefully. I took the prednisone later in the morning, but my body was really stiff. What a stupid mistake. Hurting less, but really a ding-a-ling.

Use a weekly pil box to keep up with your daily meds. That way if you have to tkae something different you are more aware.

Hope things settle down quickly. Be careful!

I haven't done that - but I've done other things just as bad. Setting up my pill box at the beginning of the week is always a hoot. I always get screwed up, have to dump all of the pills out and then try to figure out what the heck it all is. Since I'm cutting 5 mg. & 1 mg. pills, I have to try to piece them together to see what's what. There ought to be an easier way.

Hope you're okay! I took too much plaquenil today by mistake. Was worried for a
while; but I have been just fine.

We're all ding-a-lings sometimes!!

Glad you're okay!Jinx39153.7304050926Did you have fun peeing all morning? You know, I was thinking that, but I wasn't going to say it.

I take 2 Lasix every day. If you took 3 you must have REALLY been to the potty every 5 minutes.

I really don't think it would hurt you, just once. But you wouldn't want to do it often

I don't know how I would manage without my weekly pill boxes.

We all get goofy at times.

hurts,

Prob. once won't be a worry, but do be careful in future

Placquenil used to be great coming in a flat-sided container rather than the usual round ones;  I kept the last flat one and top it up with the Placq. from the newer round containers as it is another way for me to distinguish all the containers.

My usual trick is not to take the wrong ones but to forget them until a few hours later .....    brain fog is a wonderful thing  NOT

I thought this was going to be about the moron doctors making medication mistakes.  After a full blown battle with the nurse because of the moronic message she left that even my husband couldn't understand (your thyroid test came back up 17, thats great!), she called in my script wrong.  About a week later I finally started feeling so bad I pulled out my bottle and discovered she had refilled the dosage from the time before, not the new higher dosage which was what the battle was all about because having a thyroid reading of 89 when around 5 is the top norm ain't great morons, she meant to say my thyroid was 17, which is still UP, but DOWN from the last reading of 72.  The nurse should have said your thyroid came back at 17, which is STILL up, not UP another 17 points.  My husband could not get it through her skull and it took him two days to get them to fax the results so we could figure it out ourselves.  At least she apologized and is being really nice suddenly.  I cannot wait for the 2-month retest, how do you figure out a mistake and know if the dosage is correct now or not?

I hadn't even thought about the fact I could make a mistake myself, so thanks for the topic, and I will remember to double-check before I swallow and triple-check at the pharmacy counter - hope you are better.

Yes, it could have been a far worse mix up. I was not comfortable this morning with that lasix (I usually take 1/2), but the lack of prednisone caused me some real stiffness/pain. I'm putting the lasix some where else away from the pred. Okay don't laugh - my pred and ambien are in the same size bottles so I paint the lids - green for go (pred) and red for stop (ambien) - when I get a new script I just change the lids - I don't take the pred unless I just have to but keep the green lid on the bottle just in case.  Hugs and good vibes.

I almost did it again today!! Fortunately I read the container BEFORE taking the pills! I labeled the WRONG container?? The writing is very small and because of the generic LAsix it is very small. Honestly, this is scary. I'm seperating the containers. The lasix in the drawer! I'll keep the prednisone on my counter top. The good news is that I lost 3 lbs yesterday, and since I've been over eating lately I appreciated the weightloss!
