Anyone take MSM? | Arthritis Information

I started taking 1500mg. of msm twice a day a week ago.  I feel soooooooooo much better.

My whole body was so achy that I didn't want to do anything but lie around.  Over the last week the pain and achiness has disappeared and I feel really good.

Does anyone else take msm and feel that it helps?  I was so tired of hurting I decided to give it a try and am very happy so far.  Just wanted to know if there are others taking it?????

Dear Laura, I am so happy for you. That MSM sounds like a great idea. I'll surely try it! Thanks for sharing your good health. I can 2nd the MSM helps. BUT, I have to take around 9000mg - 12000mg/day for any benefit at all. Also you want to stick to the "name brand" MSM...meaning make sure it says Lignisul on the bottle. It can be made by almost any mfg but the best type of MSM is made using the Lignisul patent process.

It can take a month or two before it works or it can begin working in a week...and make sure you don't have sulphur issues before trying it. What else? Ummmm...of yeah, it might be a good idea to slowly build up to 7000mg+ as your dose. I guess it can irritate your tummy and/or make things a tad burning on the "way out".

I have read there is now a liquid form of MSM. but have not looked into it yet.BreckLundin39185.9844444444 What is msm?basically it is a bioavailable form of organic sulphur (as in in organic molecules [molecules made up of long chain carbon atoms]) as opposed to ionic/molecular sulphur. It is really simpler then it sounds...it is just a way to get sulphur into your body in a form it can use to help with joint health and inflammation.

James Colburn actually brought this into the public eye...

Here are some links with more details:

msm.com -- that is a commercial site but the info is good.

Google for Lignisul MSM

Hope that helps a bit...

I started taking the MSM and I feel better on it than off of it. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis as well but am in some sort of a remission after taking Enbrel. I went off of Enbrel because I could not afford  it. Turns out to have been the best thing I could have done!

I thought I was allergic to sulfur but I guess not because I feel much better on the MSM. I have also seen the MSM mixed with the Chondroitin or whatever it is. DOes anyone know anything about that?

mia

Mia,

I don't think there is enough msm in the glucosamine chondroitin to be much help.

I also take 9000mg a day and do feel alot of pain relief.  I bought powdered msm and drink 3/4tsp. in a small galss of orange juice twice a day.  It is rather bitter but the orange juice makes it easy to drink.

I thought the powder form might get to the system quicker and easier than pill form.  That's just my weird thought process though.

I do recommend starting off slowly and build up too as I got a headache and nausea if I took took much at once.

I found this on Wikipedia...
