Hi...I just joined this forum and look forward to sharing inforamtion and friendships with you!

I have had RA for over 5 years and it has changed my life; days without much pain, a good nights sleep are something from the past...now I have learned to deal with each day as it comes. I am thankful for the good days and pray through the bad ones.

Hope I can learn from you all and form some lasting friendships, no one understands what it is like to have RA except someone who has it themselves!

Welcome church mouse. Its a horrible disease that is not very forgiving but it is treatable with meds and its about changing your way of life too.Hey church mouse!!!!! :) Welcome to AI!! Glad you found us here, this is a nice place with tons of information! :) What medications are you on? I hope to see you around!! Hi Church Mouse, Welcome and hope you enjoy your visits. Hi Church Mouse and welcome.Welcome!

 hello

     and welcome, church-mouse-

It is a pleasure to meet you!

Welcome-

hessalinaHi CM...welcome! Well, typically they WILL insure you, they just want you to pay their premium for 6-18 months before anything RA related is covered. That's the down side of having a pre-existing illness. The only way they would cover you right off the bat, is if you went without ANY treatment or seeing a doctor for 6 months prior to signing onto the insurance. I *JUST* went through all of that garbage. Bleh, it's a royal pain in the ass.

I've taken the pred before, and I'm on Mobic right now. I haven't even seen a new rheumy yet - like I said I just went through all that insurance garbage, and I just got signed on so I'm starting the doctor process all over again.

I'm a computer geek and I'm obsessed with anything and everything Alice in Wonderland!! Very sorry to hear that you have lost your insurance. The only way to get another policy is for your husband to get a job which offers a group health plan. If you have taken the COBRA from your husbands old job you will be able to buy a policy when cobra runs out. Check with your state to see if they have a high risk pool you can join.Hi there,
Welcome to the board. I'm new, too. Thanks for sharing about
yourself. I'm divorced, no kids, two dogs, love reading, spending
time w/ my friends.

Currently I'm on plaquenil, arthrotec and tramacet. (I have a
conservative doctor :(

Look forward to your posts! Hi there, welcome to a wonderful group of people who 'really' care. They have been terrific to me after a gigantic flare-up after surgery. I'm interested in portrait painting, golf and walking the beach (I live on the west coast), and protecting our western snowy plovers during their nesting season.  I'm currently taking methotrexate and haven't heard about the problem with insurance....what a bummmmer. I'm also on prednisone (temp) and remicade. I hope you can find some answers to your questions hear. Don't hesitate to ask! This is better than emails as everyone HAS this dang disease and wants to help!! A rare find. I'm hurting less, now. The problem is that my hubby works for the County, he receives his insurance for free...but mine would be almost 500.00, we just can't afford that.  I did check into High-risk insurance and it was over 500.00 a month as well, with a 1,000.00 deductible!

guess, I will just live on a wing and prayer for now. Had to have gallbladder surgery last year and my goodness it was over 7,000.00 and we are having to pay that ourselves...ouch!

It is so nice to come here and visit with people who know how I feel and can relate and give support, my husband is so good, he has osteoarthritis in his knees, ankles and elbows and he thinks he knows how I feel but in reality he doesn't, it isn't the same thing at all.

The weather is changing here and a front is moving in...oh my little toes can sure feel it too. :)

Guess, I better get off here and get to cleaning this little house....
hugs to you all.
