My brother called yesterday and my nephew is back in the hospital with Non Hodgkins  lymphoma, it is back with a vengeance. I am just sick about this. My nephew is just 25.

The Dr.'s in Indianapolis have got him on 2 chemo meds and pred and have done a push through his spinal fluid or something,( I am obviously still upset about this) bone marrow transplant is next...I will know more next week, what I do know is that my nephew is extremely ill.

I do not know where to go for info on this stuff, he beat it once before and we didn't think the Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma wqould be back.

Any input would be appreciated, all prayers are welcomed.

P.S I hesitated in writing this due to all the arguing and slamming and judging of others and I swore it would be months before I came back on here but I have to tell you, my nephew is worth more than people arguing and slamming others and we desperatly need the prayers for my brother's son.

I am so sorry this horrible disease has hit your family. My friend is battling non hodgkins and is having radiation. This is her second time also but she is quite up beat and cheerful. The radiation has left burns in her mouth which is stopping her eating and I watch her cry when she tries to eat something so simple as custard. My prayers are with you and your family.

I'm real sorry to hear about your nephew Jode. Your whole family will be in my prayers.

Go to google.com and just do a general search. I'm sure there's tons of info on the web.

Jode,

I'm so sorry your family is going through this.  You'll be in my prayers.  I have 2 friends that have been through this and are okay.  I also know of someone going through it right now that is around the same age.

Unfortunately I have experience with cancer being in our family, not this kind though.  Using google, dogpile, yahoo, etc., will get you probably more information than you want.

It is so hard watching the ones you love suffer.  Just sending lots of cards and magazines, movies, etc. and visiting your nephew to keep his spirits up is a huge help.

Please take care of yourself, the stress won't be good for you either.

Again, you're in my prayers.

So sorry to hear about your nephews problem Jode, that's really tough, I'm afraid I don't know anything about this, but I do know that the prayers that are going out for him from the people on this board, and all the others that will be praying will be heard and give you and your family extra strength at this difficult time.

So sorry to hear this. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

You know that you can come here and your friends will give you (and your nephew) the prayers and support needed.

Jode, I will be praying for your family.

Thank you all so much this has been quite a shock for all of us, I really thought it would not come back and I just hate that my brother and my family have ot go through all this again...poor guy........he is only 25 and I know from experience how hard it is to be so ill and stuck in a hospital.

I am sending him a huge balloon boquet that I told my brother to get for him and some goofy flowers, maybe a music cd or movie...not sure. My nephew is so ill and awaiting all the tests to see about a bone marrow transplant.

This is just the pits! I feel so absolutely helpless!

I had no idea that  it could return like this. What a shock to our family.

Again, thank you so much for all your info and prayers. They are very much appreciated.I simply have been in too much shock from the news to research it.

jode

I am so sorry Jode.  I don't know anything about Lymphoma but I am sure you can find all kinds of good info on a web search.  We have missed you Jode.  Do not let nasty people with no lives influence your life.  Stick around and let us support you through this, ignore the ugliness in life you cannot do anything about and put your energy into supporting your brother and taking care of yourself.  Sending you prayers.  Roxanne

I am so sorry to hear about you nephew.A girl I work with was just DX with this. Hers is folicular lyphoma. The Dr told her if you have to have it that is the best kind to have.

I know what you are going thru..my nephew who is 39,married 4 beautiful daughters 6,4&11/2 twins has cancer. The primary cancer was in the tonsils. They removed them but it is in stage 3. He has had 12 weeks of chemo and 2 more to go and 5 weeks of radiation and 2 more to go. They told him if it comes back it usaully is within 8 months from the last treatment. It has been so hard for them as he is being treated in Pittsburgh and lives about 100 from there. He and his wife are staying down there in a hotel with the twins and the other girls are with grandparents at home. His whole world has been turned upside down. He was a chewer and that was the cause. Cancer has killed everyone in my family. It's such a horrible disease. I will keep you in my prayers. Your nephew is so young like mine. Keep faith.Pat

Oh Jode, such bad news about your nephew.  Something like this is a terrible upset for all concerned.  I will certainly add you and yours to my prayer list.
Jode, just ignore these whacko's that seem to attack us all.  We must all learn not to take it personally especially considering the source.  Actually Jode we should also be praying for them like we do all sick people.
Hang in there and take care of yourself.

N&T with a hug.
I'm very very sorry to hear this.  I will get a Mass said for you at our chapel and I will be praying for him, he is very much in my family's thoughts just now. Jode, I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew. I'll be praying for all of you. You aren't alone. You've got a whole lot of people here for you. Many, many hugs.

All of you are so kind and thoughtful with your words and prayers, thankyou so very much....I will pass this all on to my brother. This is all so difficult.

jode

Jode, I'm so sad for you and your family. From the little reading that I've done on it, there is still a lot of hope even at the bone marrow transplant stage. I have read articles on it under bone marrow and cancer. You might want to check out:

http://www.hopkinskimmelcancercenter.org/kpr/for-pts-and-fam s-counseling.cfm

That's their support center. Any of the major cancer centers are going to have good support centers. My girlfriend called one of them for her sister and they got a lot of help including finding a place to help her overcome lung cancer. She went to a cancer center in Houston and they cut out all this cancer. That was over three years ago and she is doing really well. So, there is hope.

One of the places, we called when anothre friend had it was the American Cancer Society. They were very helpful and supportive.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Jode, I don't know much about your nephew's kind of lymphoma, but a good friend of mine had the bone marrow transplant (he has an incurable form of cancer) two years ago. It was autologous - they used his own marrow - they zapped his marrow twice, infusing his marrow after the first treatment and allowing it to grow back before zapping him again. They can't cure him, but it has been quite a miracle. He's been to England twice, he's kept his job, he's seen his sons grow up. The choice was have the marrow transplant or die in 6 months. After 3 1/2 years, he's still alive.

It's a scary thing - you have no immune system at all when they do it - but it can be absolutely a life saver. Don't give up hope! You're in my prayers.
First, you have my prayers for you and your family as we speak.

Second, do a search for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They have a message board there that is just for support for sufferers of these forms of cancer and their family and friends.

Nancy

You can have prayers and supports, the cancer is not going away. Majority turn to medical for treatments but there are minority prefer traditional herbs in the EAST.

In Japan, forest grown shiitake mushroom is being used to treat nose, mouth, throat and lung cancers in hospitals.

The wild lingzhi(ganoderma lucidum) is also an effective herb for cancer.

Nature always has its answerJode-

Sorry to hear this horrible news. I hope with all my heart your nephew pulls through.
