Hi three weeks ago i woke up with pain in my left instep..i had been doing
some running recently so went to a podiatrist who diagnosed me with
tenovitis. The pain got prgressively worse so i deciced to see an
orthopedic specialist. He ordered some blood work ESP was 64 and CPR
was 10.He perscribed me with celebrex and Tramadol.I went back 1 week
later and the ESR was down to 26 and CPR hadnt really moved.
He was happy with this and said to continue with the medication and
didnt suspect RA.
The Pain is still not getting better and i am getting the same pain in the
instep on the other foot..
Apart from the pain in my feet i have felt absolutely fine ..no fever or flu
like symptoms no tiredness..if anything i felt more awake. No pain in any
other joints. It appears to me that these are all symptoms i should be
feeling according to many people on this forum..
Could i still have RA and do i need to see a rheumotologist??

Doesn't sound like RA to me. It usually is in multiple joints and you would definately know if you had it.

Go to the docotor and ask him to test your Rheumatiod Factor level. Get a blood test for RA and find out. You do NOT want to wait until it progresses.

You might want to go back to the podiatrist and ask about the possibility of orthotics for your shoes. Or, you could try some arch supports first and make sure you are wearing good running or walking shoes. It does sound more like tendonitis to me. Hope you find something that works.

NancyMine started in my feet only. Couldn't get my shoes on and I went to a foot doctor, he said, "You have arthritis' , I couldn't believe it got the 0 orthotics from another foot doc, eventually made it to an RA doctor, and started the plaquinel (3 years??or so), It was RA.

I had to register when I read your letter!

Macca, I went to orthopedics for various things over & over again.  I went to podiatrists and spent several hundred $ on orthotics.  I went to a kinesiologist and added mineral supplements.  Stretched more.  Continued to be as active in sports as possible.......lah lah lah

Meanwhile my feet (especially the instep!) were killing me.  No more pretty shoes!  I have wrist issues, toe issues, shoulder issues.  I wish I knew what to ask for several years ago.

Finally,my internist did a sed rate test.  What's to loose?  Get a test. I was immediately put on methotrexate by an RD, 6 pills a week.  I've probably had this for a long, long time.
