Hello all, I'm new to the board. 34 yr old male from the bronx, married kids, bussiness & family. Taking my first Enbrel shot on monday & hopefully get my RA under control. Haven't met anyone within my age group with RA in my area, feel like an alien, lol. Hoping I can meet nice positive people whom can offer the support we all need.

thanks for listening

Drew

Welcome! I'm pretty new here, too. This board has great
information and lots of people to answer any questions you may
have.

THANK YOU jINX FOR THE REPLY. this forum has people of all ages writing to express their fears and apprehensions about this disease (even a JA section). I had no idea this struck so many age groups! People rave about embril (not all insurance co. cover it). I'm taking Remicade which at the 3rd shot yesterday has made me feel terrific, I also take MTX, and prednisone (getting off of). You are lucky to live in this era with so many options for treatment and insurance that will cover them. When I got this stuff 15 years ago the only way to get the drugs, for me, whould have been experimental. I'm sure you will do fine and prevent joint erosion and other problems. Good luck! I'm not hurting anymore.

Hi Drew, you will find great support from the wonderfully supportive people on this board.

Welcome!!

Welcome to the board.  You will a lot of caring people here as well as knowledgeable people here.  Good luck with your Enbrel shot!

THANK YOU AL YOU HAVE BEEN SO KIND AND WELCOMING. YOU ALL RELAXED MY FEARS A BIT, (ALTHOUGH I'M STILL SCARED OF THE NEEDLE). THE NURSE IN MY RHUEMY'S OFFICE TOLD ME SHE HAS GIRLS TAKE THE SHOT W/ NO PROBLEM I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT EASILY. IN ANY CASE I HAVE NO CHOICE., LET YOU GUYS NO HOW IT WENT

THANKS A BUNCH FOR THE RELEIF & GOD BLESS YOU ALL

How nurses tell lies to men

Welcome Drew. Good luck with your shot i'm sure you will do fine

You'll get used to the needles, I'm sure. Just try to think of something else that makes you happy, while you are getting it. You will probably be getting periodic blood tests, too. Rheumatologists like to keep tabs on your inflammation levels and liver, etc, while you are on meds for RA. Just remember, that little shot should make you feel much better, eventually.

Best of luck. Let us know how things go!

Gentle hugs,

Nini

Welcome Drew and good luck with your shot!

Hi Drew welcome.

It becomes really easy to put up with a 'jab', when the RA calms down.

My you be a poster child for Enbrel!
