I increased my dose of mtx last night to 15mg.  Last week the day after my mtx is when I got so sick.  Today, I am feeling really crappy.  My skin all over feels warm, and kinda tingly but in a bad way.  I feel flushed and just lousy.  Anyone have their skin feel wierd after mtx.  I am really feeling poisoned

Have you been in the sun much? How has the sun affected your skin since you've been on all the medication?

I  hope you're feeling better. I'll check back later on. I am increasing my dose to 15 mg tonight so I'm curious to see how it goes. I had been on 10 mg but it didn't last a full week so my RD had me split the dose. I saw her the other day and she increased it to 15 mg and I'll try it all at once and hope it last a week. If not she said I could split it if I need to.

Roxy, I'm on 20mg of mtx and I haven't had any of the sensations you are having.  Every time I increase my dose, I get dizzy and tired and for the first time, the last increase caused nausea but it only took two weeks to get over everything but the fatigue that plagues me.  It sounds like you should talk to you doc.  Perhaps you are allergic to it.

I'll be curious to know how that works out for you Mike. I've heard of others doing that but understand it weakens the effects (I might have misunderstood what that meant). My RD never suggested that option just continued to increase mine to 22.5mg and eventually added Humira because that wasn't enough either.

Keep us posted; if that works that's good news for many here. To me that sounds like such a better option than such a high dose.

Lovie38533.5093287037Lovie,  This is the EXACT same feeling that I had last week before I all of my joints started hurting.  I called the rd and he said to come in if I experienced shortness of breath.  I know it is a reaction to the mtx because the only other time I have felt like this was the day after mtx last week.  No I have not been in the sun today and yesterday it was early in the day and I didn't sunburn.  I wrote it off last week but it does concern me.  I will keep you posted.  I have some joint pain but I am hoping that it does not get worse since I am now taking the 5 mg. pred.  I am exhausted but that is to be expected after dose of mtx.  Thanks for feedback.  Mike, I will keep you posted.  Roxanne

I can't ever remember experiencing anything like that Rox...but as we all know we all react differently to different medications.

I hope it doesn't get any worse. Get some rest and try to take it easy.

I'll check on you later.

Lovie

 Roxy, Thanks.

 Lovie,

I was taking 10 mg on Friday morning, but come Wednesday it was wearing off and I was feeling sore and stiff. So she said to try 5 mg on Friday and 5 mg on Monday evening. That just barely gets through the week that way, but it does seem to weaken the effect. Because the ( for  lack of a better word ) high wasn't as high but it lasted longer. If that makes any sense. I switched from Friday morning to Thursday night after dinner because my stomach was starting to feel like I ate too much after I took  the MTX. Now I sleep through that.

Mike

That pretty much describes my experience with it too but I never split the dose, just increased it to the point he felt like it wasn't working anymore. That's when we added Humira. Same thing happened there. The original dose was every 14 days...and about 6 months into it I wasn't making it but maybe 9 days before it started to "wear off" that's when we changed that to weekly. Seems to be getting me from week to week now with the exception of a few problems here and there; which I've just come to accept as the norm unfortunatly. I've come to accept the fact that I'm not going to feel 100%; but I can deal with this.

Scares me though. If it all wears off; what's next?
