Is this a flare | Arthritis Information

Have been having problems with my right knee for 3 days.  Cant remember ever having flares in my knees, maybe I did but it would have been a long time ago.  This seems slightly different in that the night before last it was agonising, I took anti inflams, codeine etc and kept waking every hour with the pain.   I stayed in bed until midday yesterday when it seemed a lot better so I carried out with my day fairly quietly & was limping slightly but the pain was minimal.   Last night the severe pain came back, took the meds and have stayed in bed most of today . The pain was still severe this mornining & at the moment it is slightly painful but bearable.  Usually when I have flares the pain is fairly constant but this goes from where I can hardly walk to a mild limp & the process starts over again.   Is this Ra or fibro - can never figure out the difference.  It is definitely not as a result of hitting my knee on something or too much activity.

Anyone have any idea of what it is likely to be.

Thanks,

Cassie

Cassie - cup your hand behind your knee cap - does it bulge? Is it warm? You might have a baker's Cysts. We've had lots of threads about them, maybe it rings a bell? Sure sounds like something is going on - but the way you describe it is just how my baker's cysts start up. Then, WHAMMO they hurt so bad you don't even want to stand up. Lemmie know. :)

No Katie doesnt seem to be a bakers cyst.  At one stage yesterday it seemed to also travel up to my hip, I used to have a lot of problems with that hip some years ago.  It just seems strange to me that it is better for rest whereas before nothing made it better until the flare passed.

Thanks for your help.

Cassie
