My emg appointment was today | Arthritis Information

I posted this at 4ratalk...so just a copy of that post.

I had a nerve conduction test done first. While I was having that
done, my husband told the woman doing it that I was a bit nervous about the EMG. She told me that she would let the doctor know when he comes in to do the emg and read the results of the nerve conduction test. So I had the nerve conduction done on both arms and she asked me a lot of questions about my RA. Then the doctor came in...looked things over and told me there was no need for the EMG. He could tell by the results of the nerve conduction test that I needed carpal tunnel sugery. He said the only reason he would suggest an emg, would be if I didn't want to go by the nerve conduction test alone and wanted more proof that surgery was needed. So now I wait until they send the results to my doctor.

Something else to worry about...I suppose though, it could be worse.

I'm so sorry to hear you need the surgery. Hopefully the surgery will
be a complete success and you'll get some relief there.

At least you didn't have to have the EMG!! (It really isn't that bad.)

Take care.

Yeah, after the doctor left, I talked with the woman who did the nerve conduction test and asked her how bad the emg really was.  She said not bad at all and that she actually does it to her self ( I think she said once a month) while calibrating the tools used for the emg.
