Goodmorning....or not

I unsuccessfully tried to login and again could not...so let me tell you my former name Gramma2.

I have a wierd rash on my cheeks that was beginning to freak me out...thinking lupus.....by chance I read the insert in my humeria package and it indicated that sometimes this medication causes lupus like syptoms...made me feel better just wondering what you guys think and if anyone else had experienced this problem  Have a great day praying that it will be pain free for all of you.

It could just be a reaction to the Humira.  A lupus rash on the face looks like a butterfly or resembles a wolfs face.  There is such a thing called drug induced lupus where they list Remicade as a moderate risk for the drug induced lupus.  When did you do your Humira shot?  I also looked up what side effects Humira has and one of them listed is a "lupus like syndrome"  http://www.drugs.com/humira.html

Here is what Wikipedia says about lupus and you can also read about drug induced lupus there too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupus_erythematosus

As always, your best bet is to call the doc Monday morning or go to an Urgent Care if you are really worried.

Thank you grammaskittles.  Just wanted to say Hi!  I have a grandson named Dev, too. He is 4 1/2, not a common name.  Grandbabies are the best!  Love, Pat

Just FYI grammaskittles, wikipedia.org is not a very reliable source.  Some of the information they have is correct, but if you look closely there is a place where anyone can "edit" the information.  I learned that in a nursing research class, and thought I'd pass it along because I know ya'll want the best and correct information available.  Hope that helps!

Trish

Oh geeze....thanks for the info Trish I really appreciate it.  I didn't know that about Wikipedia.  I will use another resource from now on.  You are absolutley correct when you say that I want the best and correct information as possible.

This really helped a lot thanks again!!

Sorry to hear about the rash. I've been on remicade 3 years got a face rash like you . Had the derm guy do a patch test for lupus ..came back neg but shows i have rosacea. I've become very sensitive to the sun also. Somethings going on my ana went from neg to pos . unfortunately I'm off the remicade for now thinking this is drug induced lupus symptom. One other syptom cropped up..watery eyes..I was taking remicade without anything else, which might be the problem...Would appreciate any info help..By the way I'm new here and want to say Hi to all

I broke out in a rash when I started Humira. It was on my face mostly but I also had it other places. I was worried that I was allergic. I have lots of allergies to meds, environment, anything with fur or dust. My doc suggested I take benadryl a half hour before my humira injection and then take it for a couple days after. I did what he said and no rash.

nabeel: the watery eye problem may be from ra itself. Problems with your eyes are common. My eyes go from being drippy and watery to dry as a bone.

Just my 2 cents. I hope it helps.

I'm not sure about other meds, but I know with minocycline that if you get
drug induced lupus it goes away if you discontinue the drug.I am covered in a rash all over my shoulders and back and on my arms. This has come since my last humira injection although I did wonder if it was psorasis
