STYE IT HURTS | Arthritis Information

OK  I took my Humira yesterday, thought it was Sunday the day I am supposed to take it Are you sure it's a stye? The only reason I ask is that RA has completely
wrecked my eyes. I live at the eye dr. Actually had to go 4 times in a
week. Good thing he is quite attractive :) I have sjorgen's but there have
been some other issues as well. Keratits and then the last time scleritis.
That is swelling of the white of the eye. Anyway, I thought it was a stye at
first cause the outer part of the eye was swollen and tender. To bad I was
wrong...

I've only had a stye once.  My doc at the time gave me some anti-biotic eye drops and recommended I buy a bottle of boric acid I believe is what it's called.  It helped more than anything.  It comes in powder form and it's cheap.  Take like a table spoon or so to a bathroom sink full of water or you can make it a little stronger if you like and wet a washcloth and make it into a compress.  Put it on your eye for 30 minutes.  If when it dries it feels dry and makes your skin stiff then you can wash it off.  I did this 3 times a day and it really helped.

Good luck.

There is 'an old wive's tale' Roxy that if you rub a gold wedding ring on a stye it will go away! Dont know if it works but gold was used for RA for years so there may be something in it - am curious to see if it works.
Honestly, its probably a chalazion, which is a blocked up gland, sort of like a pimple. Or, if its right at the lid margin, a stopped up mybohmian gland. Hot compresses 3-4 times a day is the best thing.  Keep your eye well lubed, with otc drops like systane.  If it gets worse or doesn't clear up, the can give you antibiotics or worse case scenario they lance them.  I hope its feeling better today!  I get them so frequently, that I use an antibiotic ointment every night!
