SATURDAY I  WAS AT A MEETING WHEN A MAN SITTING ACROSS FROM ME ANNOUNCED,  "I'm Sick".....OMG,  I IMMEDIATELY GOT UP, EXPLAINED THAT I WAS TAKING 3 KINDS OF MEDICATION FOR RA THAT INTERFERES WITH MY IMMUNE SYSTEM FIGHTING OFF VIRUSES, ETC. AND LEFT THE ROOM!! NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THIS MEDICATION DOES TO US AND WE MUST STICK UP FOR OURSELVES. The people who were there are my friends and they understood. We need to protect ourselves from colds and viruses as best we can.

I have the same reaction when i am in waiting rooms. At my rhuemy appt, the woman sitting next to me was with her mother i think, she was sneezing and sniffing and told her mother she had the flu! I virtually stopped breathing it was so scary! We have the "but you dont look sick" about us so they don't consider that we are compromised. Always a concern.

I tend to freak out too, when in a room with sneezing, sniffling people

If either hub or I have colds or flu, we tell family and friends to stay well away until we are better.

I get kind of nuts myself.  I know it is impossible to stay away from germs, but if someone is coughing, runny nose, etc., I remove myself, wash my hands and stay away.  At work, the first thing I do in the morning is wash down my keyboard, phone, pens and adding machine with lysol.  I feel like a freak, but we deal with the public and everyone touches my stuff.  I guess it goes with the territory of the drugs we're on....do your best to stay away from sick people.
